If I knew Tyus were coming back, I'd sign on to keeping him. I have my doubts...

I didn’t see the game, but our old friend Derek (DCV) points out some interesting numbers over at Canis. The Advanced Boxscore shows KAT as our best defender and our most significant positive player. It shows Rose as our worst offensive player and 2nd worst defender for the game. stats.nba.com/game/0021800265/advanced/Wolves were outscored by 10 in his 29.5 minutes on the floor and we crushed the Nets by 20 in the 18.5 minutes he sat. Also interesting are his “drive” numbers. stats.nba.com/players/drives/?Season=2018-19&SeasonType=Regular%20Season&DateFrom=11%2F23%2F2018&TeamID=1610612750I’ll quite Derek for those: “Rose drove on 18 possessions and hit on 3 of 8 2 point FG attempts. He failed to get to the line on any of those attempts. Further of his 8 passes out of those drives many of them left his teammates screwed by his earlier decision making. As he pivoted around on failed drives he made several passes that forced highly contested late shot clock attempts and his 8 passes resulted in 8 missed FGs. He also had two TOs in there.”

I'm still waiting for the bottom to fall out on that %. Obviously Rose isn't a great defender. In this thread, I saw a comment that the Wolves would have been sunk without his offense, but that's the rub with him (and guys like him). They score, but the other team scores more (on average) when they're on the floor. I do wonder though how much Rose's defensive struggles are magnified by him playing the 2? I'm not expecting great defense from him (although he's at least active there compared to JC last year), but playing him at the 2 certainly doesn't help. Trading Teague really would be in the best interests of the team at this point given where we're headed. Thibs would never do it, but trading Teague and starting Tyus would be the best option IMO. Let's find out what we really have in Tyus. Put him in the best spot to succeed by playing him with guys who would really benefit from what he does best. Rose would still play a ton of minutes off the bench, but as a PG his defense is probably "less bad." A Rose/Okogie backcourt off the bench would certainly provide a lot of aggressiveness and energy.

Thats the knock. Still there are 4 other guys playing with Rose who contribute to that as well. You can't seperate it down to just Rose.
Give me a lineup of KAT, Taj, Cov, Okogie and Rose and his defensive numbers would go through the roof.
