This Wemby opener’s a blast. It still feels like I am hallucinating watching him play.

Strus and Korver two of the best point guards to ever lace it up.
So, what does Strus think about the Korver comp? “The actions he ran off, the type of shots he can shoot, I’m capable of those too,” Strus said. “No disrespect to Kyle Korver, I think he is a great player, but I think I have a little more to my game. He is probably a better shooter. But I think I can do a little more with the ball in my hand or getting in the paint to create for others as well.” – via Chris Fedor @ Cleveland Plain Dealer

A little?!!! This is a good point though, and why teams are trying to stay big. The best way to prevent a drive it to have big bodies all over the floor. Any gap, or step ball handler gets they're at the rim. So in a game like last night, how do Wolves open that up when 3's ain't dropping? It's also why offense was required, because even point guards would have a hell of a time just taking dudes off the dribble. That 2013 game was stunning, but to me that's what made those in traffic dunks or passes amazing, compared to today where any bench player is doing it the whole game.

If Embiid asks out, why would it be to the Knicks? Knicks issue is they don't have any young guys as valuable even as Jaden to put in a trade. And whatever they deal, is going to be built around Embiid, Brunson and what?...
Everyone's like Knicks are sitting good, but the only way they get one of these guys is if Mitchell or whoever just says I'm only going to the Knicks.
Per people familiar with the matter, nothing has changed. Those people reiterated that the organization believes Embiid is committed to competing for a title with the Sixers and finishing his career in Philadelphia. They added that, in general, Philadelphia was unmoved by the reported package for Embiid. “They didn’t take it seriously,” one person said of the Sixers, and some close to Embiid, in reference to the proposed package. – via SportsNet New York

Brogdon is a far better fit for Clips than James Harden. Clips would have to be hard R dumb to not do this over James and they should be contracted.
At two points this offseason — during the three-team trade talks that fell apart back in June and the Jrue Holiday trade in October — Brogdon says he was already mentally preparing himself to be a Clipper alongside Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. “Absolutely,” Brogdon confirmed to ClutchPoints. “Absolutely. You know, once Jrue was traded from Milwaukee, I knew Boston had a lot of interest in him and I figured Boston would have a good run at getting him because I was a guy that they were open to trading.” “I was a guy that’s viewed as a good vet in the league and to teams. I have good value in the league. So a team like Portland could either keep me as a good vet or flip me. I knew that Boston would be in play to get [Jrue Holiday]. So I did start to mentally prepare to be here [in Los Angeles].” – via Tomer Azarly @ Clutch Points

Luka's one. If Finch was coaching Mav's and they needed a late game bucket he would see if Dwight Powell could get an entry pass down to Lively. hoopshype.com/lists/nba-execs-poll-luka-doncic-victor-wembanyama-battle-for-top-player-under-25-to-build-around/Isn't Ja Marbury but he can carry and travel all the time/you can't defend guys anymore? Oh that's right you can run alongside him or chase, but if the offensive player initiates contact he or she is getting free throws. Ja Morant’s off-court behavior, which includes a 25-game suspension to start this season for showing a firearm on social media – his second suspension in three months following an eight-game suspension in March – was the primary reason his stock slightly fell in the eyes of executives who spoke with HoopsHype.
“I’m not sure we’ve ever seen a point guard with his combination of athleticism, scoring, and feel for the game,” an NBA executive told HoopsHype. “Assuming he gets his off-court issues worked out, the sky’s the limit for him, and the best is yet to come. Offensively, he’s got to improve his shooting, and he has a ways to go defensively, but he’s got an innate ability to make others around him better, and that can’t be taught.”

Unless of course, he does not have the ball, and is standing above the three point line and we iso with Kat and Rudy post ups.
Anthony Edwards is coming off his first All-Star appearance and is primed for many more after dominating during Minnesota’s first-round loss to Denver last season with 31.6 points, 5.2 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game. “Edwards’ ability to create a shot for himself against any sort of defense is hard to find,” an NBA executive told HoopsHype. “He scores at all three levels, he’s a transition monster, and he can play on and off the ball. He can play with power, speed, or vertical athleticism. He has shown moments of being a great on-ball defender, and his work ethic and general demeanor are great attributes to lead a team. He just needs to continue to mature and be more consistent on both ends.” – via Michael Scotto @ HoopsHype
“Edwards is a three-level scorer with athleticism and is an elite competitor,” another NBA executive told HoopsHype. “He should be able to defend three positions with his length and toughness. He can handle the ball and has the courage to carry the pressure with emotional and psychological strength to own big moments.” – via Michael Scotto @ HoopsHype

This is easy, you need both inside out capabilities and they just signed Brunson. Mitchell makes less sense compared to a big. If you already had Kat or Emiid, and no Brunson, it's the exact opposite.
The Knicks didn’t view Donovan Mitchell as good enough to carry a team by himself. About a year after the Knicks were outbid in their pursuit for Mitchell, Scott Perry, the team’s former GM, cited Mitchell’s lack of playoff success to explain why New York stopped short of Utah’s demands. – via New York Post

New York is still behind Miami, and teams like OKC as far as where that next guy goes IMO, and I don't see how that changes unless you think they just get whoever's left of Embiid, Kat, Mitchell, etc.
Perimeter scoring and initiating seems way easier to find right now. Pick up any 12 year old street baller.

It's early, but Chet Holmgren is looking pretty good. Had 16/13/7blks vs. the Cavs in another OKC win.
That Thunder team is just oozing with potential and they've got the treasure trove of picks to add talent. That Houston pick this year could be pretty juicy even though this draft class apparently isn't very good.

Wolves fans don’t even like this. We’re just about that soft small ball Naz fluff.
*****
Mitchell Robinson, consistently declared by his coach as overlooked and underappreciated by outsiders, filled the boxscore with the intangible stuff in the Knicks’ 126-120 victory over the Hawks on Friday night. Robinson’s 38 minutes produced 13 rebounds, four steals and four blocks, which didn’t go unnoticed in the postgame interviews. “I think to his teammates, the people in our organization, there’s a great appreciation because oftentimes, there’s not really a stat for that, and it’s so vital to the team,” Thibodeau said. “That’s what make everything go. So the rim protection, and then offensively the screening, and then rolling to the rim, force the defense to collapse. That’s unselfishness. And when you do that, you’re making a commitment to the team. So I know his teammates appreciate him, and certainly the coaches and our entire organization, front office. He has great value.” – via Stefan Bondy @ New York Post

I was horrified today listening to Micah Nori on the KFAN morning show with Trent Tucker say that they are trying to get the ball inside to Rudy MORE this year than last year!!! He said the idea is to get it to him when he's under the basket.
WTF! Now, no one can tell me they weren't trying to get the ball to Rudy under the basket on that next to last play.

With Smart, probably has more to do with injuries, contract wise they had to anyway, but this was their entire defense against Bucks for two years, Smart and Williams sticking their head in G's armpit and flopping. PB and Crowder your on notice.
The NBA announces Jalen Brunson has been given a $2,000 fine for a flopping violation in last night’s game against Atlanta. Brunson also got hit with a flop tech against Boston Wednesday. – via Twitter TimBontemps

Just keep painting everyone with your imaginary brush... Your right, that was an unnecessary low blow to small ball fans. I redact that statement. I am however, tracking offense and defensive rating this season between starters, and bench, and so far it's hard for me not to believe our bench should be starting, and starters benching. Flip the script on the league!

Daryl’s not exactly the most reliable source.

Morey also said McDaniels was someone the Sixers would be interested in signing in free agency. “I don’t even know what happened,” McDaniels said. “I thought I was [coming back to the Sixers]. I guess it was a better opportunity. A team wanted me, gave me money, stuff like that I guess you could say, so I had to take it.” – via Keith Pompey @ The Philadelphia Inquirer

Something is happening in Detroit. My guy Cade Cunningham has been fantastic these first few games looking like a dominant guard. Combine that with Jalen Duren looking like one of the best centers in the league and Detroit has some exciting stuff cooking.
