Our "improved bench":
Tolliver attempted almost five 3s in 22 MPG last year. Our offense couldn’t get him a single look….
Derrick Rose played 30 minutes. 30. And he was as bad, or worse, than last year.
Okogie, KBD, Nunnally, Deng: DNP-CD

Thank You Derek Rose for the missed layup. Nice to know we can count on you.

Okogie, KBD, Nunnally, Deng: DNP-CD That's right! He had one flippin shot total tonight. No 3's.
Rose got way too much run tonight. 31 cold minutes. It might be a different matter if everything was falling.
Foul calls on Towns were usually brutal.

And Tolly's only shot was a dunk attempt where he got blocked by the rim. He looked old. Rose is garbage. He shouldn't be in the league and he's our 3rd wing...

FYI, the NBA App may be the worst I've ever seen. It goes to an all black screen every set of commercials and you have to force the app to stop in settings and restart it to get the game back. It sucks. I’m assuming that won’t continue or I’m getting my money back. The app generally sucks but I think the freezing may just be a bug in a new update. That didn’t happen last year, though plenty of errors.

Rose can't play 31 minutes. 15 tops. Okogie couldn't possibly be worse than Rose.

Tolliver's awful game is made even worse because Bjelica was great for the Kings. 18 points (8/12), 8 rebounds, 2 assists.

As much as Wiggins "played well", he was 1/5 on long 2's last night. His shot selection is still mightily suspect.

Yes it is coaching and we will only get more of the same as the season progresses. This is Thibs.

The biggest things that I took away - Tolliver will be useless on this team. I think a lot of us blamed Bjelly for passing up 3's which he did, but it was as much of a problem that Butler and others didn't get the ball to Bjelly when he was open. Tolliver could have had 5 attempts easy last night if Jimmy or Rose look for the pass. Jimmy gets a lot of assists, but they only come on his terms when he has to give up the ball. That's not a winning basketball player. Same goes for Rose who is just washed... which leads me too the next point. Derrick Rose is washed. Good games are an aberration, this is the norm. He does not have any explosiveness left and without that, he's not an NBA player. He potentially could be if he looked to pass but he is incapable of doing that. I'd say get Rose and Butler off this team ASAP but that won't happen. To return the same exact team, with the same exact schemes is just incompetence considering everything that's happened and everything we saw last year both on the court and off.

Anthony Tolliver's "guys" went 2/7 against him last night. Him being a non-factor on offense is more a factor of our offense being inept and not being able to utilize stretch guys. Heck, we only took 19 3's...the Spurs (not exactly the Rockets or Warriors of outside shooting) took 25.
Rose's defense was so good that Bryn Forbes missed a shot. He was the only one to miss one (5/6 against him).

My summary of last nights game: I hate Derrick Rose. good news: he's only going to be available for like five games a season. It is only a matter of time until something breaks, hurts, swells, stretches, bruises or degenerates...

The worst thing about iso ball is it leads to people taking bad shots because they never know when they'll get the ball back again. 1 or 2 passes.....dribble dribble....contestsed shot. Rinse repeat.

Thibs not being able to do anything beyond what he knew in Chicago and what he learned in his development as a coach in the NBA in the 90's is the ultimate sign that he should not be a head coach any longer. He has 2 straight years of horrendous defensive numbers and 4th quarter offensive breakdowns because his systems don't work and we come back with the exact same stuff. He refuses to accept that the system is the issue. The league has passed you by. The football version of Thibs is Gruden at this point. The NBA has changed almost as much as the NFL has in a short period of time. Gruden has less talent than what Thibs has but they are both woeful at adjusting to the new rules and play styles.

He's never been much of a passer or floor general, and he reportedly has always been unable to understand any kind of complex sets, so Thibs just gave him the ball and told him to make something happen. And he's been trying to replicate that ever since. He tried it with Wiggins, but he's incapable of doing it. He tried it with Ricky, but Rubio kept screwing it up by being a real PG and making our offense better, so he had to go. He tried it with Teague, but Jeff is clearly torn between wanting to be a PG and naturally being a SG, so he struggles making choices. So he got Jimmy, and its really not Butler's game at all. Jimmy should be more of a complimentary scorer. He should drive and cut and catch and shoot. he shouldn't be manufacturing his own jumpers and dominating the ball.

Funny thing is, the guy that Thibs should be using more but inexplicably doesn't might actually be the best guy on our roster in doing what Thibs actually wants done. And, I am glad I am not the only one that thinks Teague should be a wing.

Budenholzer's Bucks shot 34 3s last night. Weird how a team can acquire guys who shoot 3s (Ilyasova, Lopez, DiVencenzo, and Wood), implement schemes that generate 3s and then encourage players to shoot them and then the team actually shoots more 3s.
We acquire and play guys like Taj and Rose who can't do it and play them in a system that doesn't generate them. Just weird how we can't make more 3s.

We all knew long ago that Bjelica has a game that fits the modern style of basketball. Drive, kick, keep ball moving, shoot 3's when open, etc. He just was not in the right system, and was not used properly. Of course didn't appreciate what he had and let him go. He would kill it on the Warriors as a back up 4.
