Deng Adel...To a Training Camp contract... ----------------- Adel has agreed to a training camp contract with the Timberwolves, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Adel put together a standout three-year collegiate career with Louisville, finishing it off with a senior season where he averaged 14.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists across 33.1 minutes. However, he ultimately went undrafted and now joins the Timberwolves for camp with the hope of impressing enough to earn a final roster spot. It's worth it to note that Adel played with the Rockets in the summer league, posting averages of 8.3 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.3 steals in just 21.2 minutes. As of now, Adel is likely looking at long odds for earning a spot on the 15-man roster. www.cbssports.com/fantasy/basketball/news/timberwolves-deng-adel-inks-training-camp-deal-with-twolves/----------------- 89. Deng AdelAdel was a solid college player who is good at many things but great at none. He’s a nice ball-handler for his size, but not a good enough one for it to really matter at the NBA level. His positioning and technique on defense are a mess despite attractive physical tools, and his shot still hasn’t really come around even though he’s already 22. With his lack of strength and efficient offense, it’s tough to see him as an NBA player. Still, he’s a toolsy wing with some production, so he’ll get looks. www.thestepien.com/2018/06/19/jackson-hoys-final-2018-big-board/

Undersized for a SF but would be ideal size if he could play the SG position. But I don't think he will make it past training camp.

At first I thought it was Luol Deng! What a relief. I wonder if that removes Joakim Noah from consideration?

This title sucks.
And I have no idea who the player is they signed.
And even if somehow he made the team, it is not like he would get playing time.

What do you guys all think about this Jimmy Butler news of player opting out to go to the Lakers or move and play with Kyrie?
Where there's smoke there's fire. The more Jimmy remains quiet, the more nervous I get.

The more Jimmy remains quiet, the more nervous I get. Its not really opting out. He's going to be a UFA after the year. Its always been a concern since we traded for him that he could leave. I'd imagine a lot of it will depend on how the team performs this year and if Butler thinks we're a contender or not. But hey, you very well might get your wish and see Jimmy sign for less than the Max he could get...it just might not be with us...

I am not a believer in the "where there's smoke there's fire" saying. We went through this with Love before he signed his first extension. People were convinced that he was going to bail to LA the first chance he got. He said over and over that he wasn't going to, but nobody believed him. And, at the end of the day, he signed with us. And, he told us upfront what his intentions were while he still had the value to get us something in return instead of waiting until all of the offers were on the table. And he still isn't in LA. Not trying to rehash the Love situation again, but if Butler were to do what Love did and say publicly that he had no intention of going to LA or NY at the end of this season, would that really change things in the minds of most people? I think the same chatter would happen and people would still think the same thing. Now, I think there is a good chance that Butler ends up leaving after this season. The optimistic me has it 50/50, though I do believe we are probably below the 50% mark slightly. I think if the relationship with Towns stays as "fragile" as it is, Butler is gone no matter what. If the two of them can figure out what it takes to be "buddies", like Towns has with Wiggins and like he had with LaVine, then I think our odds get much better. Honestly, I think it would take us moving Wiggins, but I don't see that happening. I suspect that Butler is frustrated with Wiggins and Towns is frustrated with Butler being frustrated with Wiggins. Sometimes you are too close to see truths about your friends and family and I think Towns believes Wiggins is better than he is. Not that there is anything wrong with Wiggins not being a Superstar. But, when a non-Superstar starts talking about how he should be treated as a Superstar (especially by saying he shouldn't come as the third wheel behind two players who are better than him), that changes the whole conversation. If Wiggins had Manu Ginobili's mentality on the court, everything would be different. Manu's talent was much bigger than his ego, so he was able to fill the space between Duncan and Parker perfectly. Wiggins could be that piece if he could stop feeling he is the top dog and deserves the red carpet treatment. And, if he did that, I think the dynamic between our big 2.5 would become much more appealing to Butler.

I have to admit that when I first saw the title I was a little excited. Then I realized that must mean I want them to actually sign Luol Deng...

I hate you for this title. I saw the Deng headline and thought this was who Thibs was pulling out from the mothballs.

We might be able to reuse the headline. Luol has been bought out by the Lakers.

Deng on a minimum deal is a good move at this point. I imagine he's washed up but his drop off from his years in Miami to his time with the Lakers makes me think that some of his issues could have been scheme and fit in addition to a drop in ability. Worth a shot at this point regardless of his past ties.

And Deng signs with the Wolves of course. Wolves are going geriatric to see if they can compete. Not going to happen.

We've cornered the market on Dengs. If anyone wants a Deng fix, they need to come to us. I am not sure it was wise to move away from our strategy of signing, drafting or trading for all of the Kevins in the league, but I guess this is another direction to go.
