KARL-ANTHONY TOWNS 12/22/2023 1:46:13 PM Towns (knee) is out for Saturday’s matchup against the Kings, Dane Moore of ‘The Dane Moore NBA Podcast’ reports. Towns left Thursday's win over the Lakers late in the fourth quarter, limping and holding his left knee. The injury is being described as just soreness, so it appears the big man has avoided something serious. Saturday's absence will mark Towns' first of the campaign. In his stead, more minutes should be available for Naz Reid, Kyle Anderson, Jaden McDaniels and other frontcourt options.

Great opportunity for Naze Rub. The birthday man. Hopefully Sacto’s got a full crew.

I'm a little nervous about this one without Kat. Rudy needs to step up. Same with the bench. Go Wolves.
Merry Christmas everyone.

The Ant, McD, Kyle, Gob quarter was our best group a season ago. Bad for the league!

Kings live and die with the three a little too much, we have their number I think.
Not sure what I’d add, but they could use a younger version of Barnes or Herb Jones type wing. Some steadying D to that first group.

What a finish and poise by the guys down the stretch. McD and Conley made key shots to close the door. We don't panic! Pretty amazing.
The bench had 13 measly points tonight and we still won.
It was the Ant, Rudy, and McD show. McD's best game this year.

I was nervous when they cut the lead to 5, but man this team showed some resilience to just not back down and put the Kings away right then and there. Impressive win especially without KAT.

I'm ready to see less shake and more jmac. Hoping we can add a better backup point guard before the trade deadline. I don't want this season to end like our last great team when Cassel got injured.

Most impressive win of the year IMO. Ant was great on both ends and his chemistry with Rudy is growing. And Jaden is coming on now on both sides of the ball. KAT being out might have helped them be more nimble on defense against this particular team, although he would have boosted their 3-point scoring. They have a lot of ways to matchup which bodes well for a playoff run.

The “neverminds” were very much present when the Kings were in the paint, he battled Sabonis all night and kept him at bay, and he was incredibly effective at spacing the floor vertically. The chemistry between him and the rest of the guys is growing in that regard. Even Jaden tried to get a lob up to him. Speaking of, Jaden was phenomenal last night. He’s incredible when he can stay out of foul trouble. And his 3-level scoring game is just so underrated IMO. He could handle a larger usage rate coming from a higher volume of shots, but it’s such a luxury that we don’t have to rely on that. Incredible depth offensively when KAT or Ant goes down.

Fun game! Best win of the season. We came out ready to play and sustained it for most of the game (just that 4th qtr flourish by Sacto).

I agree it would be nice to have a better backup PG, but it's tricky. To get Tyus, we'd need to trade Kyle and that changes the team quite a bit. Kyle is likely the guy who would play in a playoff series if there's a front court injury or foul trouble. Trading him for Tyus is getting rid of a good defender and 6th man for a guy who will only play when Conley is out of the game. In the playoffs, that's like 10-12 minutes. Monte Morris would require moving Shake, Moore, and McLaughlin to stay under tax. It would probably require a 2nd as well. Is that worth it? I would have said no as JMac isn't awful, but as Shake shows less and less and the Wolves look more serious, having Morris makes more sense in case of a Conley injury. Could be competition though for Morris if he can come back and show he's healthy and playing at his level. We need more time to see how things go, but if I were Finch, I would put JMac in over Shake. Let's see how the team looks with more PG play to see if upgrading JMac should be the priority.

Let's see how the team looks with more PG play to see if upgrading JMac should be the priority. Agree with all of this. I'll add a couple of things: Jmac should absolutely be getting some time here. We need to see which Jmac we've got. Last years or the Jmac that looked like he could run a team pretty competently. I think we have good Jmac and he should get some run. Its not a matter of If Conley is going to miss some time its more "when". We're running him pretty hard and I think he could use a bit of a break. The other thing we need to do is let Kyle either shoot himself out of this slump or let him prove that maybe the issue is something that isnt going to improve: ie: its his eyesight. Right now for as much as he helps the team, his unwillingness to shoot the ball is hurting the team. There was a bit of hope in the Kings game that he is at least getting his layops and floaters to drop a bit more. But he has to be able to hit at least a league avg % of his 3's. Thats not going to happen if he passes up every open 3 he see's. Start taking them. We can live with him shooting himself out of this slump....as long as he still has the ability to shoot and its not an issue with his eyesight.

Finch has zero interest in the J-Mac type guard.
And Kyle is among our most important players, even if he never takes a shot again. There's a reason he started with Towns out, and always plays critical minutes late. He's also the main reason Finch probably leans into Shake, because we already have our point out there.
