We should sit Ant.

This was a very bad game and the Wolves should have sat Ant as well. They also need a specialist on this team who knows how to pull fouls. Anthony Davis had his way with the Wolves and Luka (when he was in should have done a double or triple pump to get Davis in the air and then go into him and shoot the ball). In HS we did this all the time to get the opposing players into foul trouble early. That might have been our only shot at this game since our defensive anchor was out of the game.

Pretty tough ask when your top 3 defensive centers are out. Even if SloMo was playing they might have had a fighting chance.

To me, this game really showed us how spoiled we are with Gobert. It's easy to take his rim protection and rebounding for granted, but last night reminded me of what life was like pre-Rudy.

With all the injuries, it just seemed like a game we were doomed in from the start. I agree, we should've sat Ant. I will say though, I thought they fought hard for most of the game, but AD was just incredible throughout. We just had no answer.
Not unexpected, not super disappointed. On to the next one.

Naz did a decent job but he's more of a scorer and less of a defensive presence. But he could do a few double pumps or head fakes to get AD up in the air to pull some extra fouls out of him. Best thing we could have done was get AD to the bench otherwise he destroyed us.

Problem is, even without the "Laker whistle", AD is probably the best impact interior defender at avoiding fouls in the game. Dude is an absolute master of going straight up, never swiping down and damn near flawless positioning.

I think they should have sat Ant just because the game was in LA. Although...the power of Ant needs to be witnessed in person.

Its driving me nuts hearing the Danes and Chris Hines of the world talk about "well..they didnt call that many fouls". For being really smart guys....sometimes they dont get it. The Lakers arent the team that gets the highest # of fouls called for them. Its that they have the largest DIFFERENTIAL of fouls each game called for them. It's giving the Lakers an advantage every game by allowing them more chances at points and putting the other team in more foul trouble then THEY are in. I know I saw it on Canis but the difference between #1 (Lakers) and #2 (Celts?) was that the Lakers had almost double the difference. Like +348 to +148 for the 2nd place team. Just ridiculous. So go ahead and say that "there werent that many fouls called" but you miss the forest through the trees.

But try to pull some fouls out of AD or go into him a bit. Either get a score because he doesn't man up defensively or let him run the lane unchallenged. No matter what this was a game we were set to lose. No Gobert, no KAt and Monte Morris. ANT really should have sit the game and rest up.

Ant tried to dunk on AD and AD bodied him, no whistle. A couple minutes later, the Lakers had 3 consecutive and-1's where they offensive player wasn't touched. At most, they were brushed. Did finch challenge any of them? No. A couple trips later and Conley gets and and-1 only to be waived off because he wasn't into his "gather" yet.
However, they did call LeBron for a travel after he took 4 (maybe 5) steps on a 3. For someone who plays basketball every day, how does that even feel natural? I haven't watched Bron much this year, but he seems to have slowed down a ton. He's still a very good player, but he's not controlling the game like he used to. It'll be interesting to see his next contract. He's not a $50/yr player anymore, maybe $30. But you know he'll ask for more.
