Man, what a game. Kat Man was outstanding. We get locked in Kat we'll go far. As Ant said he played a clean game, and we've seen him do it before. The key to taking away Allen (aside from injury) is the same as its is mucking up our spacers. Cutting off the drives, which Wolves did very well. IMO that's always much more important than the chase from Minnesota Mike. Over a series it seems like Wolves should be able to cut off/make difficult the drive and kick more consistently than Suns. Hopefully Kyle can get right if not for game two the back half of the series. There will be a game where Book or someone goes bananas, likely coinciding with some quick fouls on one or more of our defenders, but a lot to like here. Should be a fun series. Hopefully Kat has some dominant games. Which doesn't just mean points! A lot of his best games are closer to those more balanced TD box scores, than dropping points. NBA players voting Rudy as most overrated should be good ammo. It's insane for them to think that, but also what most fans would say, based on everyone wants the AAU iso crap, but it makes sense when every promo every, or highlight is a guy making shots. So even watching a Warriors highlight real over the years, they're not showing the Steph turnovers, and crap defense, or games he's like 3 for 12. They're showing the makes, which is probably why most fans only see O. Much easier to see/measure a make or miss, but Rudy stripping KD there is what dreams are made of. He's a big time winner, and you don't know ball/life if you can't grasp that. KAt had some nice plays. But, he did end up riding bench because he was playing slow early on and not playing well. The key to the game was ANT and the bench play. Reid was awesome as usual and KAW was phenomenal. The team seemed to play better when KAT was on the bench in the 1st half.

KAT was terrific in the first half. Played totally under control on both ends, made smart plays. Defended KD as well as you can without doubling. He rode the bench because he had 4 fouls, is still gettin g his wind back and the 4th q uarter was extended garbage time.

(But it also probably had to do with NAW playing so well. How do you take NAW out of the game? Hint: you dont!). I still dont like that KAT only took 2-3 pointers. But...cant complain about the win. He did what was needed so I have to give credit where credit is due.

Timberwolves' defense is more than just GobertAnchored by Rudy Gobert, the Minnesota Timberwolves' interior defense is obviously acclaimed. The center controls the paint and is on track to win NBA Defensive Player of the Year honors for the fourth time. But in a 120-95 demolition of the Phoenix Suns in Saturday's first-round series opener, Minnesota's perimeter defense proved especially disruptive. Suns star Devin Booker scored 18 points on 16 shots and finished 1-for-7 when Timberwolves forward Jaden McDaniels was the primary defender. McDaniels seemed to be everywhere -- challenging shots, disrupting passing lanes, cutting through screens intended to free up Suns guards for open looks. "Jaden just fights through everything," Timberwolves coach Chris Finch said. Added Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards: "Jaden, to me, it's him and Rudy for Defensive Player of the Year." Nickeil Alexander-Walker was another disrupter, recording four steals off the bench for Minnesota. Forward Naz Reid was especially active (plus-22 off the bench). And it wasn't only Booker who struggled. Suns sharpshooter Grayson Allen finished with just four points on 0-for-3 shooting from 3-point range. Suns guard Bradley Beal scored 15 points but attempted only 10 shots. The overall physicality that the Timberwolves displayed was evident, and the Suns' dynamic backcourt seemed bothered by it. It will be an interesting aspect to watch moving forward. -- Baxter Holmeswww.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/39991668/biggest-takeaways-first-weekend-2024-nba-playoffs

Seems to me that Jaden McDaniels had his best game of the year in game 1. He did play well. He limited Booker and later guarded Durant. His length made things tough on the Suns all game. He didn't make 3s, but he did get after it a little on the offensive glass and scored a little in the first half until Ant got cooking in the 2nd half. Josh Hart has hit 8-15 threes in 2 games for the Knicks so far after shooting 30% from three for the season. It would be such a boon to the Wolves if Jaden could get hot like that from 3 in these playoffs. It could happen!

I thought he played well under control with discipline and he stayed out of foul trouble. For him, that's big. That's his next step. Shooting too. Unfortunately Jaden has only shot like 29% from three over the last month or so. So getting hot is a real possibility. Why not?

getting hot is a real possibility. Why not? Exactly! Why not? The Wolves have a lot of talent, but if we're being realistic, we need someone to be unexpectedly good if we want to win a title.

I'll setting for getting out of the first round for right now..... But in general, yes. We need someone to step up every game in some way. Last game it was really NAW and others did what they are paid to do at thier highest level. Hopefully someone will shine tonight also.

According to my playoff points tracker, that is how it works.
If you're generating clean looks for corner, or above the break, those are mostly interchangeable if you have your offensive engine.
