"ESPN News Services
Andrew Wiggins and the Minnesota Timberwolves lost against the visiting Atlanta Hawks due to missed free throws, dunks and layups.
Wiggins, a career 74 percent free throw shooter, was Minnesota's biggest offender from the stripe in the 123-120 overtime loss. He went 5-of-12 and heard about it from a frustrated home crowd.
But Wiggins didn't take the boos kindly.
"That's fans for you," Wiggins said. "We've got some s---ty fans, and we've got some good fans. That's just how it works."
EDITOR'S PICKS
Rose sprains ankle in Timberwolves' overtime loss Derrick Rose suffered a sprained ankle during Minnesota's overtime loss to the Hawks and will be re-evaluated Saturday.
Wiggins and the Wolves were out of sorts from the start; Wiggins forgot to put his jersey on underneath his warm-ups, and things went downhill in a hurry.
Minnesota went 21-of-38 from the free throw line overall.
"It happens," Wiggins said. "It's one of those days and one of those games." -------------------------------------------
Obviously, Wiggins has a room temperature I.Q. I almost feel sorry for him that he is so dimwitted. I suppose we're deplorable too. Sorry Andy, that's the worst thing that you can say. How dare you say I'm a sh+tty fan? I'm a hell of a lot better fan than you are a player.
As a pro making 30 million per and performing far below what you are paid, I strongly suggest you apologize profusely, take responsibility, and promise you will do your very best to become even one half the player of what you are paid.
BTW, Is it too much to put a jersey on underneath your warm-ups?
I am done with you. The only thing going on is how sh+tty you play.
The Wolves ought to suspend him one game.....but they won't.

"That's fans for you," Wiggins said. "We've got some s---ty fans, and we've got some good fans. That's just how it works." The better response would probably be "I'd boo myself too if I was watching, what with my poor FT shooting and strong inconsistencies with the ball". Too bad he chose to lash out at disappointed fans instead of owing up to his and his own team's mistakes. In the event that our boy Drew is reading this -- We've also got some shitty players (including yourself), and we've got some good players. That's just how it works.

Yeah, it was a pretty stupid thing to say. he's right though....but you dont say that. I'm disappointed he didnt take responsibility. I really hate the "it happens" line. No...it's not supposed to happen.
I also like that Towns said the shirt situation will "be addressed. You have to be ready to play". Good on Towns for trying to hold Wiggins accountable.

I wanna see what Thibs does. If he's as nonchalant about it as he was about Jimmy going nuts, then he should never be thought of as credible for anything ever again. I'd suspend him for more than just one game, move him to the bench and force him to shoot free throws all practice with a shooting coach until he only misses one out of every 5. I'd run him like a dog.

I read this moments ago and just wow. Room IQ is about right. You lost the game Wiggins. Well Thibs since he's a stubborn fool but you missed critical free throws. Any new coach needs to get Wiggins head on straight or trade him.

It's interesting to track my feelings about Wiggins over time. I was so excited when we first got him and he won rookie of the year. Then I spent a number of years just hoping that he would be able to improve his game and become an All-Star/max-contract type of player. Then I spent last year coming to the realization that he would never be a max-contract-value player, but he seemed nice in a goofy sort of way and I hoped that he could become an above-average player who would generally make the team better, thereby lessening the immense burden his bloated contract puts on this franchise moving forward.
Now I just can't even imagine that he will ever be anything but a below-average player who will be shackling this team for years to come. I can't think of a former player that I have disliked as much as I now dislike Wiggins. Somehow getting him off the team should be the biggest priority moving forward, even if you have to give up resources to do so.

Any Wolves fan in MSP who whines about the fans doesn't understand fan bases in about half the country.
Wiggins would need an emotional support dog or llama if he were in Philly, Boston, Chicago, or any city with a harder fan base. He's literally in the easiest market with the most lapdog press in the country. The fact it took this long for some fans to get on him is more a testament to the MSP fanbase's tolerance than anything.
I also think it's more an overall frustration with Wiggins' performance the past two years compared to the contract.
When you are paid max money, you have max money responsibility. He needs to learn that. Wiggins makes the most money and choked when the pressure was on. He needs to step it up and play better with more effort and purpose. More important, he needs to realize in the heat of the moment that words matter as much as his actions (or lack thereof) on the court.
At some point, someone with that franchise (a player, a coach, the owner, someone) needs to publicly tell him to step up his play and his effort. He's in year 5 and has played over 13,000 minutes in this league. He's not a kid anymore...

"I've just got to do a better job, man. It's really on me. I've been s--- the last month or so. I've just got to get focused in and locked back in on what I need to do. I've got to help my guys out. I've been letting them down, man, just not being consistent on the offensive end." - something Andrew Wiggins doesn't know how to say but Russell Westbrook does... www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/25651548/really-me
