Never thought I’d say this but the ESPN broadcast has been refreshing to listen to. While JVG goes over-the-top with his commentary at least he’s able to talk about what’s wrong with our wolves team I turned over to ESPN after I read this. Typical big market idiots. Bet even money they would take KAT and give us any player on their team in a heartbeat. Empty Stats. Tyus did just fine and should be our starter going forward. That will never happen with Thibs as coach.

Never thought I’d say this but the ESPN broadcast has been refreshing to listen to. While JVG goes over-the-top with his commentary at least he’s able to talk about what’s wrong with our wolves team I don't know about that. I thought they had a bunch of preconceived points they wanted to make that didn't really fit with what was happening on the court. They spent some time ripping on Wigs, which I did agree with, and showed a stat of his career games with over 10 rebounds or assists; he had 5 games with over 10 rebounds and 0 with over 10 assists in like 360 games. JVG called that an embarrassment for someone as athletic as Wiggins. Doris ripped on a couple of individual defensive plays too, where he was in typical Wigs mode, just standing there like a dope with his mouth hanging open as guys got behind him for the easy dunk. His criticism of KAT was ridiculous though. He came in with the "empty stats" narrative and tried to paint the picture that KAT was just coasting in the first half and completely disengaged. But I thought he was playing hard. He put up nine shots in that first half, but they just weren't dropping for him. He was still hitting the glass and making some nifty passes. As for Tyus, I thought his criticism was that he was a "safe" player who was okay but couldn't create for himself, which is what JVG thinks this team needs; he then went on to sing the praises of Rose and Teague. He was proven wrong in that narrative too, to a degree, as I thought Tyus was pretty aggressive offensively last night and had 14 points to go along with his 9 assists. Okogie was god-awful last night and Brad Stevens was able to move him around the court defensively to wherever he wanted Josh to go. He looked like the greenest of rooks last night. The rest of our bench stunk too. Daric was a no-show, and Tolliver put on one of the worst individual defensive displays I've had the displeasure of watching this season. Yuck. He did make a few shots in garbage time, so hopefully that keeps his trade value up a bit. Just a forgettable game overall, where almost everyone looked tired and somewhat disinterested in being there.
Normally, I can't stand listening to the national guys because they really don't know what is happening with a team like the Wolves. They might be able to keep up with the top 5 or 6 teams - but after that they are just going on hearsay for a lot of their information. I just found it refreshing to get away from the 2018/19 season JimPete where everyone is playing great. I swear if you only listened to JP this year and didn't watch the games you'd think the Wolves were an elite team with a great record. Again, I'm not blaming JP - because it's pretty clear someone got to him before the year started and told him he was too honest last year.
There isn't a lot to rip KAT on this year...but I am often disappointed by his energy at the start of games - so i was happy to hear JVG call him out on that.
What a crazy group of talent/good guys the celtics have on their team. Losing Kyrie should be a major blow to them. But, then they just rolled out Rozier to start at PG

I love KAT - and think he is the 1st or 2nd most talented young big in the league. But I don't think putting Kat out there with Tyus, RoCo & Taj (or Saric) is going to result in a winning team. Either Tyus or RoCo could be starters in this league (especially RoCo because of his defense) but they need to be role-players. Throwing both of them out there with Taj (or Saric) means our starting line-up has nowhere near enough god-given talent to win in this league.
Getting rid of Thibs isn't going to solve that - we have much bigger problems than just Thibs
I know Glen (at his age) isn't going to go for another rebuilding effort....but this team just doesn't have a very high ceiling as currently constructed nor a path to improve via the draft or free agency.

I didn't think we'd win given RoCo didn't play. If it weren't for KAT getting going in the 3rd quarter we probably would have lost by 30+. Wiggins' numbers last night were about as hollow as they'd get. Hayward lit us up. FWIW, Doris Burke was criticizing Wiggins last night as well - talking about effort and hustle...there was a graphic early on that showed how few 10+ board and dime games he had in his career and Burke said something to the effect that he should be embarrassed about that. Last night was probably the most specific and pointed criticism that Wiggins have had from anyone that's not a fan. About damn time... Doris is the best in the biz. JVG is getting more embarrassing all the time...

So Thibs plays Wiggins the first 14 minutes of the game and then the first 21(!) minutes of the 2nd half.
35 minutes overall is fine, but you just can't keep playing guys that many consecutive minutes.

Almost if not all of our deficiencies is coaching. Thibs and Thibs alone has us as terrible three point defenders. Thibs and his stupid rotations are burning players out. Thibs signed up Deng, Taj, Rose and Teague. Deng didn't play at all last night and if he did it was insignificant (opposite of the power of the force). Saric should be starting so he get's used to our starters just like Tyus. Rose, Taj, Okogie off the bench with Dieng. Thibs is a terrible coach. He's lucked into everything.

I am not a Thibs fan..but I cant agree with this. #1 he hasnt lucked into anything other than Rose in Chicago. (Which is pretty lucky I guess). Chicago drafted guys that would fall in line with his style and it paid off for him. He busted his tail for years in the NBA before he got his first head coaching gig and he earned it. The reality is he earned his stint with Minnesota too but he's wasting it with his stubbornness. I say again listen to the Doogie podcast with David Aldrich who has some great notes on Thibs. Great innovative defensive coach at one time who has not changed with the times. Works his tail off but doenst need too with todays analytics. But I agree that he's not an elite coach anymore.

How did he get is first HC gig? He helped Boston win some titles did he not? Boston had KG one of the best defensive players of all times. Add in Rondo and Pierce, and Allen and yes Thibs lucked into that and got a HC job with Chicago. In Chicago he had teams with Butler, Rose, Deng, Boozer, Asik, and Taj all when they were in their prime. You can also look at his first assistant jobs. Musselman, Tarkanian, Doc Rivers. While sold defensive coaches back in 2000 the NBA has passed him by. I'm simply not impressed he's lucked into his future jobs. If he was any good we would easily be a .500 team.

A title...they lost in the finals to LA one other time while he was there.
To be fair, Thibs did get some crappy Chicago squads to punch above their weight. That first team that won 60 did not have 60 win talent. Some of the other teams that were pretty much Noah + scrubs or a hobbled Rose + Noah + scrubs probably would not have made the playoffs with an average coach.
Thibs is very much like Musselman was - get some role players that will run through brick walls, get a couple of good players who will do the same, and he'll grind results but also grind the players and front office down. He's an old school guy whose methodology and defensive schemes are out of touch and place in today's faster game.
If he had gotten a coaching gig in 2000 instead of 2010, he'd probably have 600+ wins in the NBA and a ring or two to his credit because his style fit the early 2000's very, very well.
