bkref.com/tiny/Zj4y8This is the below replacement standings for number of seasons where a guy has played 1500 minutes and been at or below replacement since the 3 point line was installed. If Wiggins gets to 1500 minutes this season, which he probably will, he becomes one of 11 players to accomplish this. The others? Kevin Willis Kevin Duckworth Ron Mercer Eddy Curry Willie Green Jeff Malone Lee Mayberry John Paxson Terry Teagle Kelvin Ransey

He is the absolute worst. Every time he has a game like last night Glen should pick up the phone and pull every string he has to try and trade him away.

It's one thing to have a guy like Wiggins on your roster if you're paying him $10 mil a year (like Mercer if you adjust for $$$ and era); it's another to simply max a guy on a pinky swear promise that he'll "play harder". As much as we hate Thibs, at least he wanted to move Wiggins according to the rumor mill while there was still a shred of value. I really don't see how we will get much of anything coming back for him at this point should we deal him...I'd probably take a Parsons or a Batum at this point simply to get out of his contract...even if it means I'm giving up something simply to clean up the mess. We're not going to truly contend with Wiggins on this roster, IMO, given he's taking up 25% of our cap space.

The worst part of Wiggins is that people still talk about him "getting it" like there's actually a chance it's going to happen. I've never seen a player so weak with the ball as far as lost dribbles, getting it poked away or stripped yet still being given and taking as many opportunities with the ball. It's embarrassing.
His contract is going to kill the team. We're looking at a KG situation or what's looking like that with Anthony Davis. Wiggins deal is going hamstring the Wolves and limit how we can build around Towns. KAT isn't as good as KG either so instead of first round playoff exits, we're looking at picks in the late lottery for 4 years. By then, KAT will be burned out on the Wolves and will be looking at how he can leave MN. Then, another rebuild...sigh.
The contract is one of the reasons I suggested that we should have offered Wiggins to Indy last summer for Paul George. Who knows if Indy would have accepted as they're pretty smart, but I think the general consensus amongst many at that time is that Wiggins trade value would have been higher that Oladipo's at that time given Dipo's contract. It hasn't panned out that way, but at the time, Wiggins would have seemed like a decent return for a guy who's leaving. George and Butler likely would have been a flop given Jimmy being a jerk and all, but at least we wouldn't have been saddled with Drew's max when George left as a FA. Or, the often discussed switch of Wiggins into the Bulls deal for Butler would have also worked. Matching $80M on Lavine wouldn't be great, but at least it's less $ and yrs than Wiggins deal.

I'm kidding, but man, that Wiggins contract is so bad. Are we sure Wall's is worse? At least Wall is productive on the court. Wall might limit us to a first round playoff exit team, but I think Wiggins limits us to a no playoffs team.

If it makes you feel any better, there are 17 other players in the NBA who will make more than Wiggins' $27.5 million salary next year. Steph Curry ($40.2), Russel Westbrook ($38.5), Chris Paul ($38.5), James Harden ($38.2), John Wall ($38.2), LeBron James ($37.4), Blake Griffin ($34.4), Kyle Lowry ($33.5), Paul George ($33.0), Gordon Hayward ($32.7), Mike Conley ($32.5), Kevin Durant ($31.5 player option), Al Horford ($30.1 player option), Damian Lillard ($29.8), Kevin Love ($28.9), DeMar DeRozan ($27.7) and CJ McCollum ($27.6).

All 17 players are light years better than Wiggins. Such a sad deal we are stuck with him.

I could get excited about bringing Love back in exchange for Wiggins. The front line rebounding and 3 pt shooting of KAT and Love would be great. Passing too. Cleveland just might go for it. They need a young guy like Wiggins. Maybe they look at Wiggins differently than we do. Wigs kills them every time we play them. Maybe if they make Wigs the number 1 option, which he's never been here, maybe he wakes up. Then we just need a stud shooting guard and we're all set.

Wiggins the last few years hasn’t done much against Cleveland. That idea needs to die...
