KG recently came out and said that Derrick Rose should be the Wolves starting PG. linkIt seemed ridiculous to me at first, as I think of Rose as an old, worn out vet, but he looked pretty good at the end of the season. Plus, he is only 29 and Teague is 30. With Thibs in charge, do folks think that there is a chance he starts Rose over Teague this year? And is there any way that Tyus gets to see substantial minutes this season?

There's no effing way Rose is gonna start over Teague, who is also a "Thibs guy" as he was Thibs's major free agent score last offseason. Rose doesn't have the durability that Teague has shown, so he's best suited for a bench role anyway. Hopefully Tyus gets a minutes bump, he certainly deserves it. That will only happen if Rose plays at the 2, which Thibs did a bunch fwiw.

It was worse than Jonny Flynn's or LaVine's rookie seasons. His shooting was worse than all but Rubio's worst season and his defense was good enough to place him 83rd out of 99 PGs in DRPM. I am not much of a Teague fan, but going from Jeff to Derrick as a starter is a colossal downgrade. The only way this works to our advantage is if Tyus shows up in a Derrick Rose mask. Or if other teams decide to bench their starting PG to save their energy until we put in an NBA caliber player at point.

All I can think about is "sh-sh-sh-shut em down'
KG also thought it was a great idea to give Thud his last contract...take it with a big grain of salt.

First: I love KG the player. Absolutely love him. But he's as poor of a judge of talent as there is in the NBA.
Second: Thibs didn't play Rose a single second at PG last year. I'm pretty sure based on things Thibs has said and game evidence that Thibs thinks of Rose as a SG now.
Third: Rose is a dumpster fire. I think a more intriguing question is "Should Tyus be our starting PG and Teague a scorer off the bench"? Its a much better use of both guys skillsets, and you can argue that Tyus was our 3rd best player last year. Thibs will never do it because he's an idiot, but its a good question nonetheless...

I wouldnt say Thibs is an idiot. He knows alot about basketball....he just shouldnt be a GM. Or a head coach. (IMHO). The argument for Tyus over Teague is a good one. I am still surprised to see over at Canis the folks who said Tyus was a career backup who are now saying that he should start. He has been able to raise to higher levels at each level in his career. What I am most afraid of with Tyus is that Thibs is going to mis use him and we are going to end up losing him and seeing him become a great PG with another team.

I think there is a very strong chance of that happening. The doesn't appear to be any desire for either side to work out an extension this summer.
