1st quarter thoughts:
Defense was atrocious. Teague was the biggest offender. Constantly out of position, lazy on close-outs and let's guys drive right past him. He puts our bigs in horrible spots.
Okogie popped again. His athleticism really stands out - even among other NBA players. His individual defense against Shai on the final possession was textbook.
Tolly looked good. He's going to take a ton of 3s this year - even if he has to manufacture them himself.
KBD hit a corner 3. I thought in Game 1 he looked like he struggled with the NBA line, so going to the corner was smart.
Rose did not look good on either end.
Wiggins looks more active tonight. Still missing FTs.
KAT started slow, but took over on offense late.

Okogie moves his feet so well. He's just so smart on defense for just turning 20 two days ago.

Tyus/Okogie/KBD/Tolliver/Dieng are SO MUCH better on defense Teague/Rise/Wiggins/Taj/KAT.

Fun to see so much energy from the bench. They got us back in it.
I really want Tyus to start hitting 3s. If he could improve to the high 30s-40% he'd be such a good PG. He calms everything down.
Like what I'm seeing from the rookies. Okogie looks to have tightened up the handle a bit. At least he didn't look so out of control on the full court sprint dribble I saw (missed the shot though).
If the Wolves feel they need a little more in return for Butler, I'd happily swap Dragic for Teague. They basically have the same contract. I can't stand Teague.
Rose is showing the difference between playing well and shooting well. When he's not hitting, his overall lack of game really shows.

I want to see KAT (and even Wiggins) play in a different defensive system, because I really think Thibs' outdated scheme is just killing us.
I've lost track of how many times on a pick and roll, we've complete lost the roll man and he's been able to get uncontested to the basket.

Okogie travels, Thibs screams and swears and yanks him from the game for Rose.
Then Rose travels. Nothing from Thibs.
No wonder there is a divide in the locker room...

Tolly just provided the best (only?) defense on Gallo tonight.

Awful game. Rose is just bad... Love the rookies. I'd like to see a lineup of Tyus, Wiggs, Okogie, Taj and Kat just to see how it'd go.

This is awful to watch. Thibs sucks all the joy out of the team. They never look like they enjoy playing.
Guys taking turns iso-ing, no movement...
Rose thinks he's Kyrie Irving, but he has no chance to make it all the way to the basket, so he just throws the ball up in the air and yells to try to get the foul.
Rose and Teague are a combined 3 of 18 with 3 assists and 4 turnovers.

Most of our defensive issues are schematic.

I thought our second team looked decent. The rookies actually looked like NBA players, which our late round picks never look like. I think both can help the team this year given a chance. Starters were atrocious. Defense was awful. And I'm not sure if you all got the Clippers announcers, but they were interesting. They had some bozo from Sports Illustrated that the Clippers hired into the front office on. My favorite exchange of that conversation.
Announcer: Can you win in today's NBA without superstars Exec: You're looking at superstars out there right now.
What a load of shit. God I laughed...

69 points given up in the first half? Yuck. Gallo was destroying our guys, and the diminutive backcourt of Rose and Teague was really exposed. KBD and Okogie were the only bright spots I saw. What a waste of time watching that mess.

I had forgotten how much I hate Thibs-ball.
A backcourt of Teague and Rose is as bad as it gets..
Rose still trys to play the same game did back in the day, but has no lift anymore.
Towns not getting the ball enough... Ughhh

Most of our defensive issues are schematic. I didn't watch but everything you hear just makes it seem like this will be a completely lost year. Same system, same schemes, same plays, same nights where Teague comes and goes and Rose is more miss than hit. Blow it up.

The mistake of trading Ricky becomes more apparent all the time. KAT had way more easy looks with Ricky guiding the offense.

I know its preseason, but Okogie is already better than Wiggins.
-He's 10x the defender. Maybe 20x.
-He makes meaningful, intelligent cuts to the basket.
-He hits his FTs (6/6 vs 3/7).
-He's fully engaged every second he plays.
Offense is still a work in progress and he gets a bit out of control, but he doesn't hurt us.
I want to see a Tyus/Okogie/Richardson/KAT/Whiteside line-up.

I thought Thibs was more subdued on the sidelines. Not so much barking. Maybe it was where the microphones were located.
It was your basic track meet for the 1st half. Horrible defense. Just a lack of effort. Seeing Jeff Teague go through the motions made me sick. look at Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. He has player written all over him. I'd give a lot to move Teague for Shai. Oh well.
I didn't think Rose looked as bad as some thought. I like how he puts a ton of pressure on the defense. He's still too much a one man show for my taste.
I'm losing my patience with Wiggins. Sometimes I just want to smack that kid to wake him up. There is an old saying "If you want to be enthusiastic, act enthusiastic." I would hope he acts like he's empassioned, just a little. Every free throw he misses is a head shaker. I was looking for progress and some improvement in his game this summer. I'm not seeing it.
Same old Thibs horsebleep offensive and defensive scheme.
On a positive note, I'm most impressed with Anthony Toliver. He gets it done on both sides. If you could just put Josh Okogie's energy into Wiggins! If Josh can develop a shot, the jury is out on that, he'll be terrific. He really gets after it.
KBD looked so much more comfortable out there and it showed. It's a little early for breakout nights but it looked that way for KBD. Taj looked super solid. Gorgui was 1 of 9.
Give me Tobias Harris and Shai for Jimmy anyday and I'd be happy. Let's send Teague to anyone that will have him. Phoenix needs a PG and they have young talent to give us. Tyus needs to step up and be more aggressive on the offensive end.
At this point we don't look better than a 500 team. At this point.

I wouldn’t be against starting Okogie and cutting Rose right now...
Rose is emblematic of everything that is wrong with both Thibs offense and defense.

I miss Flip.
Better yet, hire David Adelman and run his Dad's scheme on both sides here. Ball movement, cutting, 3 pt. shots, back door weak side baskets etc.
KAT took the most shots on the team last night. At least that was a positive.

The biggest problem with Rose is he still thinks he can score. He has no explosion, no lift and no jumper. He can’t make it all the way for the hoop, and he’s NEVER been good at drawing fouls. He’s just constant wasted possessions. The guy led our team last year in both usage and shots per 36 minutes - in both the regular season and playoffs. Add in that he was near the bottom of our roster in assist % (worse than Crawford!) and he’s just a negative every time he steps on the floor.
