Peanuts? Getting the unprotected rights to LAC's draft pick in 2028 (outright) and 2029 (swap) when Kawhi, George, and Harden will be in their upper 30s seems like a really good bet. We paid double that for Gobert! Cavs gave up even more for Mitchell. You understand that Harden is older and is a FA at the end of the year right? Also, there are leverage issues associated with Harden specifically. What should the trade have been then?

Clips should have done exactly what Lakers did last year, which was wait to make sure Leonard and George are even healthy, and then if they still think James can help them at the deadline, offer two seconds, and expirings. Philly can't just end the season with Harden not playing for them, because it is a wasted year for Emiid. The pressure was all on them.

When it comes to them, Anthony Davis, Zion, Porzingis....they all are a risk every time their feet touch the floor. So you cant "wait and see". They all are going to get hurt. Its what they do. You just hope they are healthy at the end of the year and that their injuries don't keep them out too long.

What did you love about the USA experience? Tyrese Haliburton: The banter, the camaraderie. I think like, obviously when you’re a kid, you always want to wear a USA jersey because all the greats do. But being there with the guys and, you know, messing around, dudes recruiting, you can go from like recruiting to talking s— within like 10 seconds. Me and Ant would go from recruiting each other to like, “Oh you ain’t beatin us this year.” That was the fun with it and the competitive factor with it. But then also … externally, like obviously you play against (Pacers teammate Daniel) Theis (against Germany) and other guys that are in the league and you get to see them throughout the year. I love that about it too, because you’re playing guys (who) are just different players (when playing for their countries), and it’s a fun challenge. – via Joe Vardon @ The Athletic

Even less reason for Clips to do this trade, and I agree. They all are going to get hurt. Its what they do.

Honestly even if they don't it's been several years of those two getting hurt, at some point you need to know it still works even if healthy.

The average NBA player is 6’6.3” tall and has never been shorter over the past 39 seasons. Point guards are the tallest they’ve ever been in league history. All other positions are the shortest since the 80s. 72% of the league is under 6’9’’ tall (most over the past 40 seasons) – via Dimitrije Curcic @ RunRepeat.com
40% of the power forwards’ FG attempts are 3-pointers (first time in NBA history). Centers are getting close to 20% (19.5). While declining in number, NBA’s big-men are dominating in shooting efficiency and PER, breaking all-time NBA records. – via Dimitrije Curcic @ RunRepeat.com

Tyrese Haliburton is generating an absurd 56 points per game this season. Averaging 24.0 points and 11.7 assists on 49.0/40.0/92.9 shooting splits, Haliburton is taking the superstar leap. The Pacers also rank No. 1 in offensive rating scoring 120.4 points per 100 possessions. – via Twitter esidery

He and Ant liked playing together this summer. Giddey and Black more realistic.
Not huge on Quickley.

Walker Kessler is now like an elbow injury. Ainge either soft tanking or hard losing.
*****
During Utah’s season-opening game versus Sacramento on Oct. 25, Walker Kessler sustained a ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) sprain in his left elbow. The injury was diagnosed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) testing after Kessler continued to play and experienced discomfort. Rest with non-contact activities has been recommended to accelerate his recovery process. He will be reevaluated in two weeks. – via Angie Treasure @ NBA.com

It’s no secret NBA viewership is chasing the NFL’s audience. But league commissioner Adam Silver believes if basketball media did a better job breaking down lesser-known squads, the NBA could “become more NFL-like” for casual sports fans. “Historically, if you asked casual fans, ‘Are you going to watch the NBA Finals?’ They would say, ‘Who’s going to be in it?’” Silver explained in an interview with JJ Redick released on Wednesday. “And if you asked an NFL fan if they were going to watch the Super Bowl, they would never say, ‘Only if the Giants are in it.’ It’s a national holiday.” – via Brendon Kleen @ Awful Announcing

My official review of the Pistons are, if healthy, pretty intriguing.
Cade was good, could get to his spots, and mostly get what he was looking for. He was looking to move the ball the first quarter, second quarter he started looking to score more. I would say he doesn’t have the elite athleticism Ant has, or elite passing of Double R, but he makes the right play. It doesn’t really seem like he should be able to, get to where he is wanting, but is great with Monty/Duren’s screening. He also didn’t shoot great from three, but maybe having another creator in there improves that. Not a guy that’s going to jump off the screen, but hit a big corner three late and more often than not made the right play.
Duren is the type of center I love, a big that does big man things like what I hope Mark Williams can be. Can defend. Good body, good athlete. Would have a solid career any era.
Thompson seems like a great piece for those two, be interesting to see if Ivey, Bogdanovic get back, can they scare some teams. If they’re not injured into tanking, would be a fun play-in team.

Read they opted for that deal in hopes to trade him anyway. Trade made little to no sense for them in terms of what they could have targeted for Holiday.
Blaze and Wiz have components for sale.

Maybe some buyers remorse?

3 Double-digit losses for the Bucks. No wins. Maybe some buyers remorse? I believe Dame's missed the last three, and Middleton's still working his way back. I think they're better off keeping Bud, and running it back, because again it's those four got to stay healthy, not it's they got to stay healthy, and probably add something. My guess is they have a lot of belief Middleton returns to form, and Beauchamp, who didn't blow me away when I saw in person, combined with the idea they can probably find another defensive wing, either young cheapie, or elsewhere? I just know in that Pistons game they had runs with Dame, Beas, and Payne, and that ain't getting it done. They likely lose that game had Dame not gotten six free throws second half, fouls that other guards probably aren't getting.

Good to see karma catching up with Memphis after all the shit they talked last several years, but will never not be pissed on Clips bailing out Philly, and that does not happen if media had covered as look how screwed Daryl is, which is how it would have been covered for any other gm. Ballmer got suckered.

“Whether people hate me or love me, I’m going to keep being me, give 200 percent when I’m on the court and be the best Rudy I can be,” Gobert said following the Timberwolves’ practice Nov. 11. “I’m going to keep spreading love off the court. But, obviously, when things are good, people are going to appreciate you and what you do.” – via Marc J. Spears @ Andscape
“I try to stay off my emotions, but I’m a very emotional human being,” Gobert said. “I felt that with the fan base, maybe I wasn’t completely welcomed. But at the same time, I knew that I had to earn the respect in a way and that’s part of it. When you’re good, people are going to cheer for you. When you’re not good, people are going to criticize you … “When I look back now, it’s part of the process. I guess it comes with the expectations. It’s not something magical where [instantly], ‘Rudy is here. We’re not in the NBA Finals. We’re not the best defense in the league.’ Maybe they were [disappointed]. It’s part of the process. It wasn’t great to hear some of the things that I heard, but I had to turn off the emotions a little bit and focus on winning.” – via Marc J. Spears @ Andscape
“Make no mistake about it, Gobert has always been hell of a player,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said. “I realize he can be controversial and people have different opinions of him. But this guy has been defensive player of the year multiple times. Whatever team he’s on is going to have a formidable defense.” – via Marc J. Spears @ Andscape

Looks like Morey is coming out of the Harden deal smelling of roses.
Harden looks totally washed as a productive player at this point, and Philly got some much needed useful bench players for this year and that unprotected 2028 Clippers pick could be very nice (not to mention they can swap 2029 picks provided LA isn't Top 3).
