One other thing I was contemplating over lunch hearing about Vince Carters jersey being retired in Toronto, and Drake saying DeRozan won't be, but should retiring jersey numbers be a thing?
I personally don't get it. Like the Celtics have so many #'s missing, I would rather young guys get to wear the numbers they want, it doesn't change my Puckett, KG, or Moss jersey if some new player is wearing. I guess the only thing it changes is what's hanging in the rafters, but makes no difference to me if KG's jersey is hanging there, and younger generations don't have connection to it.
Just have the displays around the arena for history you want to remember, but I don't need the number 10 or 15 to be banned in Toronto from other players wearing.

I'm fine with numbers being retired with a catch: there should a time limit on it, where the number is retired for 20 years or something like that. It can be kept semi-sacred so that nobody is wearing #41 in Dallas while people still have memories of him playing, but in 20 years? People won't remember him and won't really care. Keep his jersey up there retired and honored, but open his number back up for use again. Like Jim Kaat has his number retired by the Twins. I have no idea what he looks like or what number he was when he played. Let the kids wear #36 if they want to. Now Harmon Killebrew's #3? He still gets shown a ton in highlights, has his root beer with his number on it, etc. I think people recall that he is number 3 significantly more than Kaat's 36. Let 3 stay retired then for awhile. So maybe two tiers - absolute legends that everyone remembers that can have their number retired forever, or like 50 years? And then just great players that were super fun and we can hang their jersey in the rafters, but new players can still wear their old number after like 10-20 years?

KAT averaging 3.7 fouls per 36 min for NY. He averaged 3.6 per 36 min for the Wolves last year.

It should just be a ring of honor like NFL teams do. No reason that a number should never be worn again. Jackie Robinson is one thing, but I've never really understood why numbers need to be retired forever.

I cringe when I see that on the field.

Up until a few years ago, WR's had to have a number in the 80's unless there weren't any available, then they could select a different number. Positions had numbers. Therefore, you basically can't retire a number in the NFL and they need them.

The way undermanned Nuggets beat the Thunder behind 23 points, 20 rebounds and 16 assists from Jokic.
4 assists shy of being the 3rd player ever to hit 20/20/20.

Wendell Moore Jr is getting 14 MPG for Detroit.
He's reinvented himself as a defender/rebounder that can only score inside of 10'. And he's doing OK in that role.

Spurs w/o Wemby take down OKC.
Jokic is having a season that would be ridiculous in a video game: 29.7 PPG (56/56/84), 13.7 RPG, 11.7 APG. He's leading the league in rebounds, assists and 3PT% (on 4/Game).
He's also leading the league in PER, AST%, OWS, WS/48, OBPM and BPM...
