Not a great look for the commissioner to come out wearing a suit with the NY skyline regardless of what happened. The no call on Breanna Stewart taking 5 steps before getting "fouled" was horrendous. FT differential was a factor.

That game should have ended in regulation. I'm not one to complain about the refs, but that was a bullshit call. I can take missed calls (even as bad as the obvious travel). It was the review that irked me. They had the ability to correct a phantom call. That call had no business being whistled in the context of the way the game had been officiated for 40 minutes. Upholding it given the extremely marginal contact (that was initiated by Stewart) was silly especially when they could also see she traveled to get to that point. Even if you think it's a toss up, I'd be swayed by just the fact that she cheated to even create that shot. Generally, I don't mind missed travel calls but this one should have been called. When she caught the ball and turned, she was surprised that a defender was there and that's what caused her to travel. The defense should be rewarded for making a great play. The travel should be called, she clearly shuffled her feet to avoid running into the defender but didn't dribble until she was past the defender. Could the lynx have challenged the play and asked for a travel violation instead of challenging the foul? It seems, the NBA, has implemented something like this where they will look at the entire sequence instead of a very specific event.

I would love if the NBA cracked down on traveling, and carrying. I think they have some but it's a way cooler sport when the rules are the rules for everyone elementary through pro.
