The Mavs swapped out a couple of 3 and D type players adding Marshall and Grimes in place of Jones and Green. They also added Klay. Their team shooting should be better, but the question is who guards Ant in their starting lineup? It kind of has to be Klay right? Does Klay close the game then too?

The Mavs are really good. This is going to be a good test coming off a stretch of decent basketball to see how they fare. They've had a few days off to hopefully work a few things out offensively, but they'll need to come out early with energy. I think Luka and Kyrie may be slow just early on in the season here, but with this being a WCF rematch, I think there may be a little extra juice. I'm excited for this game.

Randle is going to lead this team in Assists this year.

Randle is going to lead this team in Assists this year. He's been consistently making the right play and passing to open guy. That's the playmaking we need.

Ant made as many 3s in the first quarter as KAT has taken through 3 games.
That's all kinds of messed up.

Is there a conversation to have about Conley coming off the bench? Seems DiVincenzo is developing some chemistry with Gobert and with Conley's struggles of late, I wonder if Finch would ever consider that. I doubt it, but if he's not already, DDV should be getting the most minutes at the guard spot.

Sure enough, as I say that, Conley comes out and hits 2 3s.

I hate the flow offense. I want a more structured offense.

Things I don't love so far, the to's, d, playing 8 guys, and Ant having to be playoff Ant for 82 games although according to points tracker, his points are up are up.
Hopefully Ant’s not dinged up. Nice strip by Marshall there.

It's very hard to beat the really top tier teams when you turn it over so much. It's going to be a long season if we do not get this turnover problem rectified. We win this game easily if we take care of the ball.

I would also add all the td passes Dallas had including one of that free throw.

Nice strip by Marshall there. Whose minutes are you cutting to expand the rotation? Ingles and NAW when he becomes an offensive liability (he had some big shots tonight don't get me wrong but we know he can play himself off the floor pretty easily). Give McDaniels a few extra breather minutes, maybe don't give 26 minutes to DDV when he's struggling. There's ways to be flexible for sure

Give McDaniels a few extra breather minutes, maybe don't give 26 minutes to DDV when he's struggling. There's ways to be flexible for sure But NAW is currently our most consistent player and one of the most impactful. Listing him near the top of ways to lengthen the roster seems wild to me at this point. Sure, he has limitations, but he's grooving right now with what he does well and other than Luka hitting a couple of big shots, NAW has been our best defensive player this year. McDaniels hasn't played well, but he's an all defense level player. So we should play him less? Donte isn't playing great, but you don't yank minutes from starter level players when they slump a little. Donte was a good starter on a playoff team last year. He's earned leash. Sure, we can debate Ingles minutes and I think Ant should probably be at 35-36 instead of 39, but I could make a case that those 9 minutes should all go to NAW right now and not to expanding the rotation.

You didn't say who is playing fewer minutes. Everyone. It's just what I would do starting a season. I like it because one you want guys to be ready and comfortable throughout the season, let alone if an injury forces them into the rotation come playoffs, and two I'd prefer we don't run Ant and Rudy into the ground. I also would be fine with hockey subs which I know isn't popular, but the idea is trying to figure out both O and d. I get it, hard to trim minutes for Naz and Randle in contract years, but are we stat stuffing, or playing basketball? Is the plan to have Ant average 30, and play nearly 40 minutes a night?

The Wolves have the best 6-8 players in the league. Any of them could be playing 30 minutes per game for multiple other teams. That's 240 minutes right there with our top 8 and we know Ant, Rudy and Randle need to play more than that. We don't have a Cam Payne or Russell Westbrook getting minutes that would be an obvious guy to decrease to expand the rotation.
We are no longer a team that is prioritizing development at the expense of winning. We are about the present and until we have a better synergy with our core, I could care less about playing Dillingham, Shannon or Garza. Opportunities will present themselves. We have several back to backs coming up and lesser competition so that should open things up a bit.

Let's play worse players because that's what people do I guess. Sure, cut Ant 3 minutes. Maybe a 2-3 between Rudy and Naz, but that's 6 minutes. So Ingles plays 12 instead of 6. We can debate those 12 going to Minott over Joe, but it's just silly IMO to say we should be giving minutes to worse players when guys like Naz, NAW and Donte are in the 20s.

The Wolves have the best 6-8 players in the league. The Knicks made the determination that Donte and Randle are not starters, and didn't want to play, or pay respectively. But that's always been true, teams always have guys that could play 30 minutes, which is often why players would move on. Teams can only start five guys, and close five guys. It's why in 2010 stacking 6 first round picks on your team was useless, because there's no way you could fit all onto a roster. The eight man feels like we're gearing up for playoffs, but it's hard for me to think about prepping for that now. I mean let's say we find a groove with our eight man group, and say Naz gets hurt or something, now we're back to square one. Nurse, Thibs, Finch all are more in your line of thinking, and when everyone stays healthy it looks great.
