Teague -8, Taj -5.
Tyus +12, Saric +11
Guess which duo is in the game?

Team is humming along with Tyus, so of course Thibs has to put Teague back in... Basketball coach genius. Just remember that.

No one loves Rose more than JimPete.
Now he's waxing on about how Rose has had to overcome the temperature of the arena tonight...

Wow. Teague passed up an open 3 to pass it to Cov with 1.2 seconds on the clock.

Covington with 24 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 2 blocks.
And I don't think the boxscore comes anywhere close to representing how much he contributed to this game.

Teague was decent in the first half but was really bad in the 2nd half. We would have blown Cleveland out otherwise.

Stats I like tonight: Towns 0 fouls and 2 turnovers.
In the previous seven — post-Butler — games Towns had been averaging 4.4 fouls and 4.7 turnovers per night.

Teague -8, Taj -5. Tyus +12, Saric +11 Guess which duo is in the game? This really pissed me off. Tyus and Saric were clearly playing superiour to Teague and Taj tonight. Teague has just been off lately. But if its only "pointz" then I guess Teague.. But the offense sure looks better without old "pound the air out of it" Teague... I think we're lucky we didnt lose this game..

Even his "chosen one" can see that Thibs is grinding too hard:
Chris Hine@ChristopherHine Derrick Rose, unfiltered: "We were tired as shit tonight. We were tired, man. But we got through it. Right when we came into the gcame, kind of felt it. By halftime, we knew what it was. We knew it was going to be a grind game."

Wiggins hits his lone three and the praises rain down from the heavens. Good Lord. The only benefit for Wiggins is the gigantic return we might get for the trade in the last year of his contract otherwise dead expensive weight.

I posted something in the NBA thread about the Bowen effect that I think explains a lot of it...unfortunately. I want my commentators to be candid and critique when a guy's not playing hard or well and point out what he needs to do better. I know the teams don't necessarily agree with that but as a fan I want someone who is going to be relatively honest and fair about the team's performance.

I would be a lineup of Jones, Okogie, Covington, Saric and KAT is going to 80% in the positive for the season but we have the basketball genius running the show so that will never happen.

Punch-Drunk Wolves@PDWolves Caveats include sample size (73 minutes) and opposition (opposing bench units), BUT:
Tyus-RoCo-Saric lineups have a +31.9 net rating. Quick ball movement and defensive effort seem to be helpful things.

Stocks is my favorite hustle stat.
The only guys last year who stock'd over 200:
Oladipo - 234 George - 200 Simmons - 210 Covington - 205 Davis - 308 Drummond - 241 Giannis - 205

I swear some of TJones strong +/- numbers have to be because he doesn’t play (m)any minutes on the court with Jeff Teague. I would be a lineup of Jones, Okogie, Covington, Saric and KAT is going to 80% in the positive for the season but we have the basketball genius running the show so that will never happen. I love that group of 5. You could exchange KAT for Dieng too. Those 5 would be good too except for possible lack of backcourt offense.
One thing you get with Tyus out there is great spacing and ball movement. Tyus can get the ball to anybody whereas Teague can't. I never realized Teague was such a horrible passer until he came here.
Teague's lack of awareness is epic. Last night Towns gets the ball in the post with 5 seconds left on the clock, so he passes it to Rose who immediately passed it to a wide open Teague with 1 second on the clock. Did Teague make the shot? No! He didn't even shoot it! He passed it to Cov with less than a second left on the clock. By then Cov, who has no chance, is left standing there as the buzzer goes off. Anybody else not the coaches favorite gets the immediate hook. Teague drives me nuts that way.
Then there is the 1st half Teague who played pretty well. At least he was decisive and made a few shots.

As Levine has been saying for awhile, Teague is really a SG. He's much better when he's attacking with the intent to score rather than the hesitancy he displays trying to set up others. It's just doesn't come natural to him. He'd be much better coming off the bench and just hunting his own shots. I'd much prefer he do that for another team though.

You guys are hilarious. Teague is averaging 7.5 assists per game (top 10). He's not a horrible passer; he's just inconsistent and sometimes hesitates when he should pull the trigger. But I've also seen him pull the trigger only to have his teammates not be ready for the pass, which can make a guy gunshy. He's an average PG and always has been, but he'll be fine for a couple of years if need be.
Which PG we choose after him is going to be a key decision for this franchise, as KAT will be entering his prime as a player and we will need to make sure the core group of players around him is really good, because we will still have a huge chunk of the team's salary tied up in one completely unproductive player (Wiggins). No room for error with the other players, with his max contract weighing the franchise down.

So you're advocating that we just switch our starters for our bench players, aside from Covington? Brilliant! We should give them all max contracts too. Maybe KAT will learn a thing or two from watching the sweet moves of Gorgui on the court. (rofl)
