All the Big guns for NO are playing tonight.
We need to play much better than we have the past week or so.
And reverse the trend against NO.
Game 1: We blew them out 122-101. Game 2: We just edged them 121-120. Game 3: They blew us out: 121-107.
Looks like first team to 121 wins...

Really need to shut down the 3 point shooting and hopefully we aren't playing against the zebras as well. Very frustrating if they get calls we don't.

Dane and Chris were talking about how we just can't seem to defend teams whose offense is coming from a big, physical 4. No better example of that than Zion. He'll get calls, as every star does, but if the bigs can stay out of foul trouble and the offense has some life, I think we win.

Uuugly first half. Wolves with 6 turnovers and I think Ant has 5 of them. Seriously. He is just trying to do too much and not letting the game come to him. I knew when he said "I'm taking all the shots" after that loss to OKC that it was a very bad mentality to have. Sounds like Finch and company are pretty frustrated with he and KAT not getting everyone involved. Just a tough quarter to watch.

Finch’s “offense” has been figured out.
Pack the paint and let Ant or KAT go 1 on 3.
And we don’t attempt nearly enough 3s to make teams pay for it.

This seems deeper than just playing the best teams in the league. Ant has been trying to do way too much and it's leading to way too many turnovers. Staff needs to figure this out.

Wow. This late in the game and our starters have a COMBINED 6 rebounds.

This is the worst we've played all season.

I'll never be a fan of the flow offense. Our defense is actually Gobert's system that he came up with in the off season and not Finch's.

My one positive:
Ant has gone to the line 1 time less than Zion and Ingram combined.

If anyone listened to Danes pod today with Jake, they'd know that Finch is preaching the right things: they just arent doing them. Where Finch is absolutely culpable is that his words carry no bite. He has one hammer: playing time. If your not playing team ball....you sit. It'll be a hard lesson for some of them.

Or are we just collectively “basketball stupid”?

Rebounding is a big problem. Earlier KAT was doing well on defensive boards but not lately. Maybe time to throw Leonard or Josh into the mix just to make a point if nothing else.

I'm not really sure why Finch doesnt pull anyone for a bit if they arent playing right. Tonight Ant was a turnover machine.

Well, you know my thoughts on Finch, but it’s good to see this in Jan versus gearing up for playoffs.
Generally I’d say look around the league and see how other teams break down d, and take stuff you like. I don’t buy Finch somehow knows what to do, and his players just don’t do it. I don’t think he’s good on the fly, and he barely implemented as much structure as we have now.
Good riddle. How would like JP try to do it? Zero possibility we’re just the only team in the league that doesn’t know how to, or is too dumb. We’re talking about a team with Mike, Rudy, Kyle. If Finch has no answers, and there’s nothing more he can do, there’s a solve for that too.
Ant should be getting the 11-12 free throws a game his peers are getting. Not sure what’s going on there. I mean you can’t touch SGA or Steph near the rim, he has contact all the time. Either way, best to have this opportunity to solve now than come playoff time.
Finch has got to figure out alternatives for his players if they cannot flow their way out of a packed paint.

I would also add that Pels are a blast when fully constituted, and I would take Willie Green in a heartbeat. In theory we are also trying keep Zion off the rim, so how are Pels doing it?

Maybe a little hyperbolic, maybe not. Those two in particular get less than Embiid and Giannis because they’re not going to the rim all day. That said there have been multiple games check the box Steph has 12. I have literally watched games where Steph looks at the ref like, little help here, the ref is like oh crap I forgot, and the scorer just adds ten points to Steph’s night. Didn’t even have to shoot free throws.
Point is these littles can create contact, and get the whistle whenever they want. It’s almost like Ant is too explosive and strong they see him create or something. I wouldn’t even say they should be fouls, but they absolutely are post FOM, and because you can’t defend on the perimeter, or keep out of the paint every other trip down the court is a play at the rim refs have to decide on.

The Embiid fouls might look less aesthetically pleasing, but to me it’s no different than the sea parting for Steph, Ja, Haliburton, SGA, Jimmy Butler night after night.

Ant had 10 FTAs last night.
Last 8 games: 10, 10, 11, 18, 13, 5, 8, 8.

He should have 20, and have everyone foul out.
I was thinking about Zion being not all that different in terms of how Pels get him downhill. Beyond McD not being Ingram (which is a big gap by the way), how is there O able to create looks when teams pack the paint? If they can do it we can.

All those free throws are different context tho btw. Agree Ant is starting to get more certainly than previous years.
