Yes, that's a fair synopsis.
Of course I thought Tyus would be a better pro at this point. It looks like I have to concede to those of you that, on draft night, thought he'd only be a passable backup. If Tyus could improve his shot and finish better at the rim he could be a decent starter in the league, like I originally thought. Alas, I'm not seeing it. I've followed Tyus at a distance since high school and love it when I see him playing with guys 3-4 years older, like Rubio, and competing.
Interesting. I'm 180 from that. I thought he had no chance at draft time. Now I think he could totally be a starter. Not a Top 3 player on a good team, but he could absolutely start on one. Being a Duke fan since the 80's I watched Tyus lead them to a National Championship and he's surprised everyone along the way and have always felt he was going to be a solid PG. He is capable of being a starter or a very solid backup pg. Sadly we have Thibs who is useless.

I initially thought that Tyus just didn't have the body or athletic ability to be anything more than a backup type guy. He's gotten a lot stronger and it seems that his physical profile isn't as limiting as I thought. The problem is his shooting. What a weird shooting slump this year? I was hoping he'd be able to take a step forward with his 3 pt shooting this year to get up to the 40% range. Instead he has cratered from 3 with just an awful shooting year. The shooting thing seems out of line with his projection to the point that I'd expect a big bounce back at some point. His shooting is surely driving down his value in FA, but I think a smart team is going to land a good player on the cheap when his shooting rebounds. If Thibs gets fired (hopefully), I'd love a new (smart) FO/coach to come in this summer and match reasonable deals on Tyus. At worst, I think his shooting rebounds enough that he's a good backup. At best, a new coach/system take advantage of his true PG skills and he breaks out into a nice complementary starter who makes those around him better (you know, like PGs should be doing). Even though I'm disappointed in Tyus' shooting/scoring this year it doesn't mean I want to trade him. Au contraire, I want to keep him. I'd be disappointed if he were moved. He still can improve offensively even though I don't think he will. That kid is a natural PG. He can run a team and shows it when he plays. If only....
In terms of who we should look for as PG it's seems best to trade Teague for another PG if possible. I just don't know what teams are unhappy with players that we might like.
It makes me sick to see we are next to last in the West.

Alan Horton@WolvesRadio Thibs says Jeff Teague (left ankle) will be out another week to 10 days. I'm heartbroken for the Wolves. Feel bad for Teague. But ffs can we start Tyus for once along with Saric instead of Taj? Hell, I'm overjoyed Teague is out! Now we can see Rose and Tyus. Rose is a good passer of the ball if he wants to be. Just as long as Rose picks his spots and doesn't get into hero ball he'll be just fine. Tyus might shine if he can hit some shots. He's overdue!
Rose has showed me he's re-invented his game. Overall, I'm lovin his game although he's far from perfect. He's a plus in my book and one month ago I was down on him. I'm liking what I see if he controls himself.

180 from you again! I hate watching Rose play...and I think he hurts us a lot more than he helps...

180 from you again! I hate watching Rose play...and I think he hurts us a lot more than he helps... You're are always 180 degrees from me which is why you are so much fun. You know a lot more about basketball than I do but you are far from the savant you think you are. Granted you are good. Very good even, but you are wrong plenty. The best part of you is when you are wrong you acknowledge it, freely admit it and move on. For me that's a highly cherished attribute.
I think you're way too harsh on Rose over his last month but without him we would have lost by far worst margins.
Keep up disagreeing with me. I enjoy the hell out of it and I usually learn something.
Levine, I always look forward to what you have to say.
Happy Holliday's to all!

Rose and Tyus together is a disaster. Tyus is a decent defender and Rose is horrible. Rose loves to drive into 3 players or drive leave his feet to pass to the other team. Rose is a net balance to negative depending on his shooting. No thanks. Rose if anything should have Okogie with him since Okogie can cover his terrible defense.

Those guys are usually pretty good together. I'd rather see Okogie at the 2 and Tyus or Rose at the 1.

John Wall's contract is hideous, but if they miss the playoffs and want to blow things up, I've been convincing myself that it'd be worth the gamble provided we are sending out both Wiggins and Dieng. Wall, Mahinimi and Dwight Howard for Wiggins, Teague and Dieng would work financially this summer. We'd take on Wall's huge deal which is a huge gamble, but we'd be sending out a lot of salary as well. Mahinimi replaces G as the backup C and is an expiring next year. We'd cut Dwight Howard.

I guess it just depends on how bad you want to trade a guy.

I have no desire for huge contracts on guys who are borderline malcontents in the lockerroom who haven't done jack in the postseason. Wall's been in the NBA 9 years and has been past the first round twice.
Guys who can't win 50 in the East aren't difference makers for that matter.
HARD, HARD pass.

Both teams do a small reset.

I'd have no interest in Wall at all if we didn't have the 2nd worst contract in the league already. Assuming there's no miraculous trade out there for Wiggins, we are going to be looking at a bad contract coming back. Think of Wall's deal as $11-$13M a year (difference between Wiggins money) and it looks better, especially since in the deal I proposed we'd be getting off of much of Teague's money and a year of G's salary. Wall surely hasn't lived up to expectations, but I have no faith that Wiggins will be viewed any better when he's Wall's age.

Both teams do a small reset. For what it's worth, someone asked this to Darren Wolfson directly and he said he was in touch with a Wizards source and they have zero interest in a Porter/Wiggins swap. Sign me up for a Wall deal after July 1 if Teague opts in to his deal. Wall makes zero sense for 28 teams but for us and the Heat who could throw some equally bad contracts back, he does make sense and could boost us to another level if he buys in. If he doesn't, at least we don't have Wiggins moping around.
