Supposedly Tyus will not return. I haven't heard anything myself just rumors.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Teague opt out. Money is a factor but health and happiness for some is more important. Teague may be in that part of playing but being happy. He's not happy here at all.
Therefore the question.
After last nights game I really like Tyus and what he did on the court with Okogie and I mentioned keeping Bayless depending on his health and how much he wants.
Are there others that should be targeted?
P.S. All predicated on Thibs being gone.

He just hates Thibs. I think there is a decent chance Tyus stays. He'll be restricted and with a pretty solid Free AgGent PG class, I don't see any team offering him too sizable of a deal. I think Taylor wants to keep Tyus. He loves the kid and the Minnesota connection is a really big thing to him. And if Thibs is gone, hopefully a new coach and POBO will realize what we have in the kid and make him feel wanted. My guess: If Thibs is here, both Teague and Tyus are gone. And the only way Tyus stays is if we force him to by matching a FA offer, or if he plays on the 1 year QO. If Thibs is gone, both Teague and Tyus are here. I do think its possible Teague could be moved, as an expiring, during next season if our next coach decides he isn't the guy.

Teague's probably not opting out even if Thibs comes back. Walking away from that contract given the # of point guards out there as free agents this offseason would be financial suicide and I don't think Teague is going to get a decent deal on the market.
Best thing for us would be to deal Teague to PHX for Ryan Anderson (he has a friendlier deal for us financially) and then look at moving Bayless or Tolliver + Deng to Indy for Cory Joseph, resigning Joseph after the season.
Cory Joseph would be a great fit on this roster.

It will be interesting to see what happens and I think Bayless is expiring this year so do we flip him for something or let him expire to pay for Tyus.

I think Teague does the same.

I think Teague does the same. How so? Crawford went from $4 mil to $2.4. Hardly the same as going from $19 mil to maybe $10 mil (and I don't he'll get that given the other point guards out there). If the market were such that he could get $15 mil as a FA, him walking makes a ton of sense. Right now, it doesn't. The point guard class is relatively weaker in 2020...

As much as we all want Teague gone, I've seen nothing that says Thibs wants to move on from him. Teague is the only guy on the roster to constantly callout Thibs on his bullshit and there have been absolutely no ramifications.

I think Terry Rozier could be a good fit for us although he's expected to get around $20 million per year. Plus defender, star offensively when Kyrie was out. Would he be worth the money if Boston lets him go?

Would he be worth the money if Boston lets him go? Given his regression this year, I'd pass on him at $20 mil per. I really would love to get low usage, high to neutral D at the point as long as Wiggins and KAT are here. bkref.com/tiny/X5HmPBeverley, Joseph, perhaps Collison (although not as strong defensively, he's still a solid PG)

There really is no excuse not to try Tyus at starting PG instead of Rose to see how it goes. No other excuse other than ....Thibs. I dont wish for injuries but I wont complain when Rose is injured and Teague is injured (and it'll happen) and Tyus is forced to start this year. I think that will be telling. Not that it will mean jack squat to Thibs but hopefully others in the front office will notice how well he does and realize he's underutilized with Thibs.

Tyus started 11 games, averaged 10 and 5 and the team was awesome on offense and defense.

You still need someone to either back him up or play as the starter while Tyus backs him up. And Rose isn't that guy (for lots of reasons). If our 48 minutes of point guard feature Tyus and Beverley or Joseph and we're paying less than $13 mil between the two, I think we'd have ourselves a pretty solid tandem and have made good use of the cap. That said, if we get Beverley or Joseph in here by trade or by FA, I'm ok with Tyus staying backup and spot starter.

Ricky Rubio! Okay just kidding (sort of).
Does anyone like Elfrid Payton? I wouldn't mind splitting time between Tyus and him, if Teague opts out.

If Elfrid were better from 3...absolutely...but Elfrid is a career 30% shooter from 3.

We can...and should...have better than him on the roster as our backup point guard. He was ok in Philly last year as a small 2 off the bench but there's a reason why they shut him down and brought in Belinelli and there's a reason why McConnell played a lot with Simmons in the backcourt. Bayless wasn't good enough to play large chunks of PT. He also hasn't been fully healthy since 2015.

Ideally we draft a PG with our lottery pick this year, say goodbye to Teague and Rose and let Tyus and the rookie handle the point going forward.

I think there may be some hand wringing over failure to meet expectations, but I just don’t see Taylor admitting the sunk cost.

I think with Hoiberg on the market that Taylor might be more apt for a change. Hoiberg isn't the ideal choice, but if it gets Taylor to get rid of Thibs I'd be for giving Hoiberg a 3-year deal.
