sounds like a god send to taylor.
Jimmy forces way out. Thibs and taylor mutually agree to dissolve thib's contract so he does not have to rebuild.

How can fans put pressure on Glen to end this experiment and bring back that family vibe that players liked so much in the Wolves organization? KAT and the rest of our players went from absolutely loving it in MN to not wanting anything to do with the team. I miss Flip... Hold up. There was no sign that anyone liked the family vibe and for the most part the franchise's management structure was a running joke for those in the league, players, media, and the league office I would even say. We somehow were forced into asking the league for potential hires after the McHale era mercifully ended and they told us to hire David Kahn and we FREAKING DID. This was after we drove Dennis Lindsey to Utah because Taylor's family vibe management team was having him take personality strength finding tests before they would hire him. There is a middle ground between hiring a dictator figure like Thibs and having no real competent management structure because Taylor's family (son in law I believe) controlled much of the operations for decades. Hire a competent GM like David Griffin that has a reputation in the league and give them 5 years to bring us up to speed. I don't care who he hires as coach, just let an actual GM who is respected in the league run the f-ing team. We haven't had that other than Flip for 2-3 years in the 30 years this franchise has been around. That's incredible. I agree Cory. That's the right approach.

I'm afraid the Wolves are teetering on a lost season. I would be surprised if the Wolves flush away the season this early by trading Jimmy and firing Thibs. If the Wolves fire Thibs now they would have to promote from within and start a fresh coach/GM/presiddent search next off season. Without Jimmy the Wolves will struggle to make the playoffs and everyone will be calling for Thibs' head because "his star" burned the franchise. Welcome to Wolves fandom the most frustrating team to follow in all the north... I don't think it would be a lost season trading Butler and firing Thibs. I see it as a fresh exciting new start. The transition could be seamless if they brought up Scott Roth from Iowa. Thibs staying will carry a dark cloud over this team all year long.
If Taylor was serious about firing Thibs this summer then this Butler scenario should be the straw that gets it done.

we are where we are, but I cant see how you could be excited. this team is going to be a dumpster fire next season. suddenly I am considering not buying league pass this year <edit> we are going to be a team with no cap space trying to rebuild. I dont know how we are going to get any talent until we bottom out again and wait until wiggins contract is over.

I agree. A lost season would be keeping either of them. Jimmy won't resign with us next year, I think that much is clear. Even if he gets his wish and they move both Towns and Wiggins, he has said already he wants a big market. So, keeping Butler for a year just to have him leave and start over again is a lost year. Nothing we do this season will really carry over into next season if Butler is still a large focus of the team. And, I can't imagine Thibs being here at the start of next season regardless of what happens. Time for Glen to light a match.

Butler's loss hurts but not as much as a team with a fragmented locker room. We'll get a good piece or 2 for Butler so we'll still have plenty of talent to make the playoffs with a quality players coach.
I would not bet against Wiggins having his best year without Thibs and Butler here. I like our mix of young guys and veterans. I think we're still in good shape without those two.
If we can get a quality swingman for Butler we'll be just fine.

Unless we bring back long-term salary in a Butler trade, we could have quite a bit of cap room next offseason. Taj will be gone, Teague likely as well - especially when we don't make the Playoffs this year.

I just cant find the excitement. maybe I would describe it as having gone from really to depressed to just depressed. I am not at all excited about our mix of veterans and young players. we could barely make the playoffs last year, I cant see how we vault into contention with GS or Boston after what thibs has done to this team, but I see no reason why these changes would suddenly give us any path to do so either. basically we are just waiting out the wiggins contract until we can rip everything down to the studs again (Towns, hopefully if we can keep him) and start another decade of rebuilding.

I guess I hadnt done the math, and certainly wasnt thinking teague would leave 19 million on the table, but I was not expecting any cap space of note. are we really going to have space with wiggins, towns extension, teague and gorgie on the roster? that seems like it takes up a big chunk of our cap.

I doubt Teague sticks around to be part of a rebuilding team. He won't get 19M/year on the market, but he's n the wrong side of 30 and would probably want o maximize his next contract. I could see someone giving him 3 years and maybe 40M.

Yeah, I thought we were borderline to make the Playoffs this year before this all went down. I think removing Butler and bringing in (most likely) a rookie HC and we're absolutely a lottery team in a loaded West.

Bob, I don't think you are taking into consideration the horrible coaching job Thibs did last year. We lost something like 12 games last year by 3 points or less most due to Thibs iso slow down offense, poor use of time outs, starters being overworked and physically spent the last 3 minutes of games.
We were still a 500 team without Jimmy when he was hurt with no bench.
Lastly, we had an abomination of a 2nd unit. Don't underestimate that. We are far better off this year. The people that hated Jamal Crawfords ball hogging ways were right. He mostly killed us. It took me some time to see that. :)

biggest hiccup with the transition from old board to this one is the different location of that quote button. I think just about everyone will quote the wrong post at least once.

I heard UCLA fired their coach and that Fred Hoiberg is one of the lead candidates to become their new coach. Fred going to UCLA would take away one candidate for when Glen finally does move on from Thibs.

He sounds interesting. Honestly, I just want Thibs gone now and for anyone to take over for the rest of the year. I'm terribly afraid that Thibs is going to move Tyus for pennies on the dollar for a "vet" who Thibs thinks will help them win now. I just hope Glen steps in and says no.

My guess is that is exactly what is going to happen (or already has). Taylor loves Tyus, and we saw from how he handled the RoCo/Saric trade, that he's not going to let Thibs just do whatever he wants. I think the farther we look from the Playoffs, the more Glen will look at Thibs as a "lame duck".

I often find myself hoping the Wolves lose, just because it means that it's another nail Thibs' coffin. It's horrible, I know, but I can't stand watching this clown coach us knowing that there are guys like Fernandez out there. (That was a great article Levine.)

With this we might be able to entice Rubio back and bring in some of the Spanish vets that could be great backups.

Incredible resume for a guy that is only 35, and a perfect example of a young, forward-thinking guy that some team will be incredibly lucky to hire. I doubt we even talk to him.

I hate reading articles like that because now I want the guy and know our organization isn't smart enough to go after him. I'd be all for Adelman too. Glen is just too worried about money than doing what needs to be done.

Glen has and will spend money (see Wiggins' deal)...and will take a loss to do it at times. The issue is more than just the willingness or not to spend money...it's philosophical and cultural (organizational variety).
Glen would be a great owner in the 1990's and prior but given how much the league has changed, he hasn't been able to adapt or show a willingness to modernize his philosophy to the needs of today's game.

I've been really put off by how much water he's been carrying for the franchise this year. The old JimPete that used to have no problem questioning the franchise seems to have been replaced by a total "yes man".
