I'd be all over that Washington deal, I've loved Porter since the draft. It amazes me that Lowe thinks they’d have to add a pick. Honestly…I’d add a pick to make it happen…But I absolutely love Porter (he'd be so ideal on this team) and Oubre seems to be coming into his own. And Morris is expiring. We'd suddenly be a young, fun team again - only Porter and Oubre are WAY better than LaVine and Dunn. Porter is nice and very complementary to our talent, but it seems the national perception is that he's greatly overpaid. Maybe that's why the pick? I'd make that deal though even without the pick.

People think he's overpaid because too many people are enamored with PPG. Otto is an absolute stud. One of the most underrated guys in the game. Plays killer defense on 3-4 positions, is a good rebounder for a "swing forward" and is one of the best 3pt shooters in the game. We also know he can excel in a complimentary role and doesn't need to dominate the ball.

Thibs = lame duck: Adrian Wojnarowski✔@wojespn Among teams probing for an avenue to make a Butler deal in near future, there’s a strong belief that working through ownership is the way to go. Taylor is attending league meetings today in New York. Not holding my breath, but very hopeful Taylor is working on a GM replacement and that a swift move happens in the coming days... This hope may be misguided, but it's stemming from the implied reports of Taylor's man-crush on KAT. A man-crush that I, and many others, share with him. Tom's winning personality can only make the shituation worse. He needs to GTFO. The irresponsibility of ignoring a KAT/Butler dumpster fire over the entire off-season is unfathomable to me. I just can't even, guys... and I don't see how he doesn't get fired for cause due to extreme negligence.

Timberwolves Owner: Jimmy Butler Is AvailableSeptember 21st, 2018 at 6:36pm CST by Dana Gauruder Defying his front office executives, Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor is telling other owners and GMs at the NBA’s Board of Governors meetings that Jimmy Butler is available and they can make trade inquiries directly to him, if necessary, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. ----------------------------------------------------------------
Yea Baby!!
Glen is growing a pair and taking his team back. Good for you Glen. Bring in Jim Pete for talent evaluation help as well. Ryan Saunders can help too. At least you can trust those guys to be honest with you.

From Canis....
Could it get any better than this: Jimmy Butler’s camp reportedly says concerns about salary were "manufactured" by Wolves brass ; money was not the issue. The issue was that Kat and Wigg are kittens – not alpha dogs
Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times: "To add to the Butler drama there have been multiple reports in the Minneapolis area to come out this week that money was the main sticking point for Butler to demand his departure, but a source in his camp told the Sun-Times on Friday that it was "manufactured’’ by "ownership mouthpieces’’ to make Butler look bad…. According to the source, this is about a philosophy in making an impact in the Western Conference, and in Butler’s mind you can’t run down a dynasty like Golden State when two of the so-called dogs in the pack are in fact kittens." This is actually believable to me.

Glen is probably worried that Thibs would screw the organization because Butler is his guy and Thib's knows he is on the way out.

THIS ONE!!! DO THIS ONE!!!! WASHINGTON How about Otto Porter, Kelly Oubre, and Markieff Morris for Gibson and Butler? Would the Wiz have to toss in a pick? I'm unconvinced. Minnesota gets three legit rotation players for a post-Butler playoff push, and two versatile young wings in Oubre and Porter. This deal pushes Minnesota a hair over the tax, but they'd be able to duck back under. (The simpler deal -- Porter and Oubre for Butler -- takes Minnesota too far over.) Washington has no means to pay Oubre with John Wall, Bradley Beal, and Porter earning (gulp) $92 million between them in 2019-20. If Butler walks, getting off Porter's salary and opening some breathing room -- even if Porter is a really good complementary player -- eases the pain. It might be worth the risk. This would be my 2nd choice: MILWAUKEE The Bucks placed a courtesy "keep us in the loop" call with Minnesota, sources say, and a package built around Khris Middleton (also set to be a free agent) and one future asset -- a pick, Thon Maker, something -- makes some sense. I just don't see it. Milwaukee has a better chance retaining Middleton than they'd have with Butler. www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/24753362/zach-lowe-trade-market-minnesota-timberwolves-jimmy-butlerWhole heartedly agree with the Washington trade. Would love that one in a heartbeat.

"“The owner’s trading him,” one Board of Governors attendee told ESPN on Friday. “That was made clear. It’s just a matter of when.”
“He basically said, ‘If you don’t get anywhere with [Layden], and you’ve got something good, bring it to me,” another official told ESPN.
Taylor did not comment to Wojnarowski on Friday. Per the report, NBA officials believe that Taylor simply doesn’t want a “prolonged saga with Butler,” and that he would prefer to move him sooner rather than later."
Interesting how Thibs name is no longer mentioned in operations.

Lowe: Says that teams don’t want to give Jimmy the 5/190, they prefer the 4 year deal and not having to trade assets for him. Jon Krawczynski✔@jonkrawczynski In canvassing the league, there are a number of teams interested in Jimmy Butler. Not all of them would need assurances that Butler will sign long-term. Still unsure if Thibs will change stance and start engaging in trade talks. THe Paul George situation will help us with Jimmy I hope. People know there is a precedence set with a player going to a team, not thinking he'd stay, and changing his mind.

The sad thing about this is-- EVERYONE involved comes out of this looking terrible. Yeah, Jimmy is probably the biggest asshole. Thibs is right behind him. We already know Glen is a schmuck. But KAT and Wiggins come out of this looking petty too. Our franchise is so pathetic. I can't believe I continue to be interested in this team.

If thibs gets fired this weekend and you were asked to run the Wolves and didn't have a deal done to trade JB before camp, would you bring him in and hope the team can function with him there or would you ask him to stay in LA?

If we are paying him I would expect him to show up for camp or be fined. At camp, I might just make him carry heavy objects around the gym.

Jimmy straight up for Joakim Noah works. Seems like best-case-scenario for Thibs. :)
How about a trade with Portland? Jimmy/Taj for McCollum/Harkless works. It would nice to have a legit shooter on the team for a change.

Jimmy Butler To Skip Media Day, Start Of Training Camp September 22nd, 2018 at 11:51am CST by Mark Suleymanov Timberwolves All-Star Jimmy Butler has been granted permission to skip the team’s media day this coming Monday, sources tell Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic. Minnesota has also been informed that Butler will not be available for on-court activities at the start of training camp, Krawczynski adds. ------------------------------------
It couldn't be any other way. Now if only Thibs is excused then we'll be in business.

So Butler was excused but then also said he wasnt coming to camp is how I'm reading it? With that I think it's pretty obvious this will be done sooner rather than later..at least I hope

Wow. Glen actually acting like a real owner...
A source close to the negotiations said Glen Taylor isn’t handling Jimmy Butler talks with other teams, he is still referring teams to through Thibs/Layden. Said Taylor spoke with them recently to get them all on the same page — to get a deal done as quick as possible.
