GArza got the attention with 44 pts,but PJ Dozier with 20 pts 10 rebs in 30 min. He’s playing his way into shape after his knee injury. If he gets back all the way he could really help the big club.

I wish I saw a path for playing time for Garza.
It seems like staggering KAT and Gobert more might be the plan, which really lessens the need for a 3rd (let alone 4th) big.
Even if we ship out Naz, does Garza get more than 10-12 MPG?

They wouldnt get rid of Rudy as they coudlnt get for him what they can get for KAT.

It’s less depressing to follow the Iowa Wolves these days. PJ Dozier with another solid game last night for Iowa. 23, 8 and 4 in 33 minutes. Wolves continue to stagger him in games but seems like he’s coming back from ACL pretty well. Maybe I’m delusional but hoping he makes it to the big club.

He's way too awful defensively to be a consistent member of a rotation in the NBA, and he doesn't quite have the offensive efficiency to make up for it. His career D-rating is 118 - for reference, KATs is 109. If we ship out KAT, I'd much rather have Naz as our backup 5, even on a new contract. I can't imagine he's going to break the bank on his next deal.

Fingers crossed for these two. I kind of wish that Finch would throw Minott into one of these games where we need a jumpstart (Detroit, Houston, etc.). Seems like he could bring some energy/chaos.

Naz will/should be traded based on Nate Night and Garza's play. Hopefully there will be a mini bidding war :)

Iowa added new player Craig Randall. Looks like 26 year old PG who was playing in Australia. Kind of player who was off the grid but might be interesting. Played well last game. Dozier still on team as well. If Naz and Nowell go it might open up some spots for these guys.

Randall with 34 on 7-11 from 3 last nite. Plus Dozier with 30. Shooting and toughness could both be used. Just sayin.

He never met a jumper he didn't like. He could shoot you into ball games. Of course he could shoot you out of them as well. Nonetheless, why not see what he's got?

The NBA G League announced today that G League Ignite guard Scoot Henderson and Timberwolves/Iowa Wolves forward Luka Garza have been named team captains for the NBAGL Next Up Game, which will take place in Salt Lake City during All-Star weekend.
While the exhibition match isn’t technically being called a G League All-Star Game, that’s essentially what it is. The 24-player pool was selected by a fan vote and by the league itself.
Henderson averaged 21.2 PPG, 6.0 APG, and 4.3 RPG in six Showcase Cup games (28.5 MPG) before missing time with an injury. The guard, widely projected to be the No. 2 pick in this year’s draft, has registered 17.7 PPG, 5.7 APG, and 4.5 RPG in 11 regular season games (29.8 MPG) since returning.
Garza, meanwhile, has been dominant at the G League level while playing for the Timberwolves on a two-way contract. He averaged 29.8 PPG, 9.2 RPG, and 3.2 APG on .628/.500/.794 shooting in nine Showcase Cup games (34.4 MPG) and has been boosted those averages in two regular season games (32.5 PPG, 12.0 RPG, 5.0 APG) for the Iowa Wolves.

Garza (23/8) wins MVP and leads his team to victory in the "Next Up Game".

I think we're getting dangerously close to a Luka Garza situation with Minott in Iowa. Seems way too good to be down there.

It’s almost like getting a lottery pick for 2023 with JM coming in. We've got guys in the pipeline who could keep us from overpaying for the positions they play. Garza and Knight keep us from needing to overpay Reid, Minott and HAW from Nowell, et al, and maybe Moore for Conley. There is a little light at the end of the tunnel.

Could another team snatch these guys away from us? Aren't they under contract in a way that they are Twolves now and into the future if we decide we want them?

He signed a 4 year contract for peanuts, but if he starts panning out the wolves might think about an early extension. After it’s up I think he’s unrestricted not restricted FA. Not sure how rookie contract extension rules apply to second rounders.

Not sure how rookie contract extension rules apply to second rounders. I don't believe 2nd rounder shave special rules like 1st rounders. If Minott turns out to be the player we think he will, we'll extend him after his 3rd year instead of letting him play out his 4th year option like Naz and Nowell.

I think Minott is going to be a legit star.
We got really lucky that his game and minutes were suppressed by the Memphis coaching staff.
Kid has all the physical tools you could ever ask for, a non-stop motor, incredible instincts and a fantastic attitude.
I would not be at all suprised if in 2 years we're talking about Ant/McDaniels/Minott as our "Big 3".

When everyone's healthy, where does Minott fit in the rotation?
Conley, JMac Ant, Nowell, Rivers McDaniels, NAW KAT/SloMo, Prince Gobert, Naz
I think I would bench Rivers and have JMac, Nowell and Minott be in or out of the rotation based on that night's matchup. I want Naz, NAW, and Prince in the rotation every night until KAT gets back, and then I'd be fine with Minott taking Naz's minutes.
