Williams is burning some bridges, I hope we are not in the sweeps for him. Asking for any team who drafts him to give him partial team ownership. It is not possible in the CBA but it speaks volumes about the player. Yes a new QB you can expect years of development, that is why a player like JJ may say he wants out. Throw in a coach who does not seem to have a good feel for play calling and a pretty bad GM..... So we're hosed either way. So you might as well start taking shots at finding a franchise QB. We're going absolutely no where with Cousins. Who is the definition of average and aging rapidly before our eyes.

Is there an emergency Cousins trade, a contender might make for this season, that would help, or are Vikings just going to ride it out?

I know websites and media outlets keep pushing it. Fact is, Cousins has a no trade clause and is not going anywhere. Just ask what team would do a mid-season trade for him? Not the Jets and no way Cousins would go for a short term rental. Any picks the Vikings would want are tied up with Green Bay.

Sure but the alternative is him just taking a losing season here.

Sure but the alternative is him just taking a losing season here. Have you seen the show "Quarterback"? A midseason change would likely be a disaster for Kirk - unless he's guaranteed a ton of new money...

I have not. It's rare in the NFL, because it's difficult to be thrown into a new offense for sure.

Nope! They have climbed back with two wins. A statement win against SF. Clean up the goal line play calls and this would have not been close.

Back to .500, those two Lions games late in the year might be rough. We usually struggle when they’re bad.

If Cousins misses any time, we're not winning anything.

And it appears Cousins is done for the season.
We probably did see Cousins' last snap as a Viking. No way we extend him or resign him when he likely won't be ready to start next season.

Damn, yeah just heard that's it.
Maybe Slo Mo could dust off the pads.

I am not expecting the numbers Cousins put up, and he was playing well, but I have to say I'm a little intrigued to see the Vikings game this weekend.
Odds are probably it doesn't work out, but I think about that Case Keenum season, where our passing O line was problematic, but we had some weapons on O, and when plays broke down Case's little ability to scramble was enough to keep things exciting.
When does JJ get back?

Fortunately we have a much better O-Line than we did for Case.

JJ has another week away. I think it is going to go in one of two directions. 1) Fans see how much Cousins really does for the team and demands he returns. 2) They see a Rookie/Young QB perform well and are fine with Cousins being gone.
I think #1 is more likely. I also think Vikings management already knows the answer before we do. People are proclaiming Hall all ready to go and will be fine. I am not sold on that at all.
So yes, it is intriguing.

My guess is we bring back whoever plays better between Hall and Dobbs and draft a rookie and bring him in when he’s ready.
I’ll be stunned if we bring back Cousins considering his age, injury, how bad our cap situation is and how, despite good numbers, he’s won one playoff game in 12 years.

No way the Vikes pay Kirk 30 plus mil next year. I have some hope for Dobbs and Hall hasn't looked bad either.
If Kirk would come back and play for 15 mil I'd bring him back. But he won't do that.
The Vikings just don't have enough top talent. That has to be a priority.

They need more defensive talent. Which is why letting Kirk go could be problematic. You either hope you find a real QB in the draft, thus limiting improving defense with young talent. Or over pay for a FA, which the closest talent to Kirk is Baker Mayfield in FA next spring. What Kirk may be willing to do, because he will get paid by the Vikings regardless of being on the team is stick around. So unless the team invests in a QB in the first round in the 2024 draft, it makes the most sense. Dobbs was not the Vikings first choice at the trade deadline. He was the one that fit what they were willing to pay. They even tried to get a Practice squad QB before Hobbs, Tampa Bay had to elevate the QB.

We’re 14th in points and 10th in yards on offense.
We’re 15th in points and 11th in yards on defense.

Oh for the love of Moby. Nice little drive by Hall, and he’s out for the game.

Hall looked really good. Moved well, made great decisions, but took an unfortunate shot to the head.
