Its not unpossible that Saric is the best passer on our team:

Presser: Robert Covington on leaving a Philadelphia organization he bloomed in: “It was definitely a shocker. But understand it’s part of the business... You can be mad, but you can’t allow it to take away from the opportunity in front of you.” Dario Saric: I like to start. I am more comfortable there. ... but says it’s about what’s best for the team. Dario Saric on the fit that comes with a pairing alongside Karl-Anthony Towns: "If I could find a way to play with Joel, I can find a way to play with KAT." Classy comments like that are just what's needed.
I can't wait to see if Thibs pounds a square peg into a round hole with the new talent.

After dealing with Jimmy only being about Jimmy, this is a breath of fresh air: “It’s about effort. It’s about repetition,” Covington told the media “I can help these guys a lot ... I watched the game [against Brooklyn] yesterday and i already seen where some of the drop-offs was, so i definitely feel like my veteran presence can allow that to really help them.” Covington's positioning on the court and his ability to move without the ball is underrated. If even a chunk of that carries here, it's going to create a lot of opportunities for Rose, Wiggins, and KAT.

I think this is the best thing I have ever read from Canis. Is there any way we can send this article directly to Taylor? It perfectly details the successes of other teams and failures of our own and why it's so important we fire Thibs.

Saric is the true wild card of the trade. I so wish we had a different coach who would put him in better spots. Sounds like he would function well with more offense initiation (much like Bjelica) as he's more than just a spot up shooter. Whatever happens, his passing will certainly help as this team needs guys who are willing to make the pass into a better shot.

I think I have come around on the trade. I retract my previsous comments. Even if they become bench role players, they are a good pair to have.

Were talking Thibs here right? I think my 6 year old may beat him in sheer stubborn cussedness but that's about it.

Finally had a minute to read through that. What a great breakdown. It's so frustrating to watch the same high PnR with KAT popping to 3 or the forced KAT post up. We NEVER get KAT moving toward the hoop. He's not as good an athlete as lob catchers like WCS, Capela etc., but we should be able to get him a few easy hoops once in awhile. Everything he gets is almost all him via post ups, offensive rebs or pop open 3s. So little motion is frustrating.

I feel like when we look back in 5 years, the biggest errors of this whole process will be not drafting Anunoby with the Patton pick and actually winning game 82 last year. The actual swap of players for Butler compared to what we ultimately got from the Sixers will at worst be a wash but could be much better since Covington may be exactly what the team needed to get the most out of KAT and Wiggins. Saric should also fit in really well but last night made me appreciate having a true stretch 3 guy who can defend a lot of spots and brings a positive energy. He's also been through some horrible situations and I think his play and leadership will resonate with KAT and Wiggins more than anything Butler ever did.
This is the honeymoon phase for sure but the vibe around the team felt like a 180 from last week. It's nice to have professional basketball players join the team.

Another huge error of the Thibs era is the poor utilization of RFA. Giving Wiggins a 5 year max was just stupid. He'd done nothing to earn that kind of money and worst case scenario, we would have had to match a 4 year max from some other team.

The only thing I can think of is they gave K Love 1 yr less than max and it bit them. But with Wigs, Love is a far, far better player.
I certainly would have looked at matching another teams offer.

On Wolfson's podcast (discussing with Windhorst) he said Marc Stein has reported that Miami did actually offer Richardson, Olynyk and a 1st for Butler, but the Wolves additionally asked for $5M on top of that. The Wolves should have taken that deal.
Wolfson also said that Otto Porter was put on the table early in the Butler trade saga. Beal never was.

If that Richardson deal is true, it also would have been a nice deal. But, I'm not convinced it would have helped us better in the long run without running the cap numbers and knowing if someone else (Gorgui) was going out. The nice thing about the Philly deal is we got 2 good pieces and didn't wreck our cap/luxury tax in the future.

He's got 1 affordable year left, but then it'll be time for a big raise. He's more versatile than Olynyk, but he'll probably cost more too.

I wish he was constantly moving and cutting towards the basket so he could use his athleticism to sky up and slam it down on some people's heads. His natural ability is largely wasted as a catch and shoot guy.

I want him to drive to the basket and finish. I don't want him putting the ball on the floor, take 2-4 steps, pull up and shoot because he's a brick layer.
